ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 12 October 2017 00:57 (six years ago) link

mets can't even get the trains running on time

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 October 2017 01:05 (six years ago) link

Klubs chose the wrong month to become mortal again.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 12 October 2017 01:16 (six years ago) link

I hate to be that guy but these strike zones are garbage.

Monster fatberg (Phil D.), Thursday, 12 October 2017 01:17 (six years ago) link

Grounds crew members still working on divot CC Sabathia left on his sliding catch of Roberto Perez bunt. Not much they can do with it.

cool to see the yanks finally solving their decade long shortstop problem though

nomar, Thursday, 12 October 2017 01:24 (six years ago) link

20 years imho

calstars, Thursday, 12 October 2017 01:35 (six years ago) link

lol, CC was *on* (so i read after 2 innings)

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 12 October 2017 01:56 (six years ago) link

CC went from peak Cy Young form to being relieved in about three minutes.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:01 (six years ago) link

Excited CC looks like Sloth from the Goonies

calstars, Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:03 (six years ago) link

I’ve hated CC Sabathia ever since I fought him in the first Legend of Zelda. #RallyTogether pic.twitter.com/0o6jCliOGe

nice try at smallball there

ice cream social justice (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:28 (six years ago) link

If this were a random regular season game, I’d laugh and dismiss this strike zone as harmlessly awful. BUT ITS A PLAYOFF ELIMINATION GAME. pic.twitter.com/HuRDwvL3tX

I mean this really is ridiculous.

Monster fatberg (Phil D.), Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:50 (six years ago) link

Great commentary by Smoltz -- explained exactly how you'd pitch Sanchez to get him to chase on 3-2 and then it happened exactly as he'd described.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:51 (six years ago) link

don't really see what the big deal is with that strike zone picture, not that you can derive much from two pitches

qualx, Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:56 (six years ago) link

Chapman trying for a two inning save vs Cleveland in a winner take all game ... I've seen this somewhere before ...

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 02:57 (six years ago) link

Right on cue, they're showing the highlights from last year.

High strikes calls have seemed kind of random all night, it's not just those two pitches.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:00 (six years ago) link

Gardner sticking in the knife.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:28 (six years ago) link

They will make a big deal about Bruce's throw and Lindor not handling it, but really Frazier was busting azz to get home on that hit through the infield from first on that play.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:34 (six years ago) link

Amazing battle from Gardner and what a brainfart by Cleveland's defense.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:35 (six years ago) link

Frazier's slide was great too, anything less and he would have been out.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:37 (six years ago) link

I'm not saying it was Enos Slaughter or anything, but to get from first to home even with that bad relay you had to be busting it.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:38 (six years ago) link

I've definitely seen worse throw ins, he just had to hit third right as Lindor fumbled the ball and kept on trucking.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:38 (six years ago) link

ONly thing I can figure is that really since it just got through the infield it took a bit for Jay Bruce to get to the ball, as he might have been playing kinda deep.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:39 (six years ago) link

The Indians are starting to get those thousand-yard stares : )

calstars, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:40 (six years ago) link

The insurance run had already scored ahead of him, which made it a much easier gamble to take.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:41 (six years ago) link

This is going to be a gut shot and a half to real Tribe fans if it ends where it is. This team is so good. That said, this is a hungry Yanks club, probably the most since 96.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:42 (six years ago) link

Love the quick cuts to Cleveland babes between pitches

calstars, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:43 (six years ago) link

This had been a heck of a series.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:45 (six years ago) link

boy oh boy i'm glad i don't have to root for chapman to close my team's series.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:45 (six years ago) link

Always a pleasure to see Francona lose

calstars, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:45 (six years ago) link

After Game 2 I was resigned to a series loss--I mean this Indians team was a juggernaut, no shame in losing to them.

Amazing comeback, Didi, Tanaka, Bird, Gardner, Robertson, CC, heroes forever in my book.

qualx, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:49 (six years ago) link

let's go stros

qualx, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:49 (six years ago) link

maybe they'll change their bad-luck mascot to something luckier

nomar, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:49 (six years ago) link

Indians defense gave this one away. Great pitching by Miller and Allen all for naught.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:50 (six years ago) link

that last call strike call was iffy.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:50 (six years ago) link

NIGHTY NIGHT

calstars, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:50 (six years ago) link

There is a some things to like about this Yank club, much more blue collar than usual. I kinda dig seeing old dogs like CC getting a win tonight, as he had been good for so long.

Either way, the Astros series should be really good. I had a feeling this year's playoffs were going to be really good, it's one of those seasons where the top clubs (outside maybe the the Twins - sorry) were all pretty good.

earlnash, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:51 (six years ago) link

calstars is trash clearly, how could one root against st tito

marcos, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:52 (six years ago) link

I hate the Yankees so much. But this was a great comeback.

Cleveland dominated in Game 1 and could still start Kluber twice on regular rest, you can't plan it much better than that.

NoTimeBeforeTime, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:52 (six years ago) link

(just playin calstars)

marcos, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:53 (six years ago) link

but yea what the fuck happened to kluber

marcos, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:53 (six years ago) link

yeah that's key, yanks only where they are because Kluber wasn't Kluber anymore.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:54 (six years ago) link

anyway as a hard astros bandwagonner i'd rather they face the yankees than the indians.

Van Horn Street, Thursday, 12 October 2017 03:56 (six years ago) link

It happens. There are two guys left that have that kind of onus setting on them with Kershaw and Verlander.
