the story of danny graves wallet

gygax! (gygax!), Tuesday, 18 May 2004 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

"He said, `All I ask for is could you please sign an autograph for my father.' He's going to get a little more than an autograph."
...
"I'm going to send him a bunch of stuff... He's going to get some of that money, too."

Unexpectedly classy.

What the hell is he doing with $1400 in his wallet?!??! He must be a great tipper.

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 05:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Or he likes to do the "lemme see if I have any $1s in my wallet OH WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT" trick.

That guy deserves the treatment that Steve Bartman (wrongly) got. What a total asshole. Did you see it on TV? The guy was proud that he almost crushed some little kid.

Kerry (dymaxia), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Starr, a married, 28-year-old landscaper and former youth minister.

'Former.' Thank god.

Starr is "not the bad guy he's been made out to be,"

Maybe he was drunk.

Kerry (dymaxia), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I did not see it on TV. The Bartman treatment should definitely be enforced here.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

This has been all over the new here in Dallas this week. The guy is definitely a pariah.

gygax!, you should have found a pic of the guy and posted it and then told everybody it was me. I would have played along. Although, we probably wouldn't fool anybody for long since the guy did have a date with him.

boldbury (boldbury), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

oh boldbury... you crack me up.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 15:27 (twenty-one years ago)

My favorite part of the story I read was where members of the guy's church "stood in a circle and prayed that the truth about him comes out"

Isn't that MC 900 Foot Jesus? He lives in Dallas.

boldbury (boldbury), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

on sportscenter they spent maybe 3 minutes recapping every moment of this fiasco complete w/ (ranger) commmentary, just roasting the guy.
if the ass of god are the only ppl on his side here, he's probably just a bad guy.

reggie sanders is so cool.

Reggie Sanders really is one of the good guys.

Gear! (Gear!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

The resemblance is just too close. I'm going to post it over at ILM, too.

boldbury (boldbury), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

After the Giants beat the Cardinals to advance to the 2002 World Series, Reggie Sanders took his kids and his wife and took a victory lap around the perimeter of the field. Nearly every other Giant went into the locker room to celebrate but Sanders made an effort to wave and thank everybody who was still out there cheering. It was very classy.

And to this Angels fan:

I know you probably don't follow the game anymore but you deserve a fate worse than Bartman.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:17 (twenty-one years ago)

The best part of that clip was the woman was pretty much hiding her face with a look that said, "I can't believe you are such a dickhead."

"My favorite part of the story I read was where members of the guy's church stood in a circle and prayed that the truth about him comes out"

I think the truth did come out. If he did the right thing and gave the kid the ball and appologized, this thread wouldn't be here.

All I can say is that I am watching what I do when the cameras are on, one wrong move at a game and you are a laughing stock from coast to coast.

earlnash, Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

This only way this situation is similar to the Bartman thing, for example, is that in both cases the players on the field were ultimately pretty classy about it. Moises was furious at first but later said "it's not that guy's fault, I was just frustrated at the time, leave him alone" and now Reggie Sanders. There's something great about a player on a visiting team reaching out to fans at the ballpark.

too bad that kid didn't take that bat and go kneecap the guy who stole his ball.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

TURN THE OTHER CHEEK PEOPLE!

Unless it's Jeffrey Maier - send that kid/guy a flaming bag of poo.
