Um let me think. Oh yeah, it's stupid.

It is wierd, though.

Made for people who are unaware politicians misremember/ distort / lie.

Didn't Kerry say Eddie Yost was his fave all-time Red Sock? (never played for em)

I think he said "Manny Ortiz" at one point.

"I was quite fond of that Roger Clement that hurled for the Red Stockings once upon a time. Why, I remember a game back in 1988 where Clement struck out 24 Orioles on his way to pitching a 10-inning perfect game. I was in the boxseats at the Polo Grounds with my friend Zelig, drinking a sassparilla. It's a shame he was sold to the Metropolitans for that Leonard Dykehouse. Ah, those were the days."

B..b..b..b..b..ut being wrong about the score of Saturday night's game (Kerry said it was 10-9, instead of 11-9 ... yes, somebody thought it was important to report this) is one thing. Misremembering the occasionaly details, sure, who doesn't do that. But WS G6 1986? That's the sports equivalent of "misremembering" being in France on D-Day when you were actually on a submarine in the North Atlantic.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

occasional details

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

If everyone who "remembered" being at Game 6 had been there, there wouldn't have been room left on the field for the players. This is more like the sports equivalent of "of course I saw the twist ending coming."

Hi! I lurk here all the time.

Are you guys seriously not familiar with the political banquet drive-by? You show up, shake a few hands, make sure your presence is duly noted, and by the time the salad is served, you're already being feted at the next fund-raiser. Or, in this case, you've jetted from Boston to La Guardia, caught a cab to Shea, and voila. This isn't hard.

(Plus also, if you're a first-term senator from Massachusetts, being at a potential Red Sox World Series victory is a political appearance. Anyway, there's no reason he couldn't have been both of those places in the same evening.)

I just hope we've learned our lesson and have taken a census of politicians at the recent games, in case any of them run for higher office.
