A choice quote for the oy file: "Matt Williams is synonymous with Diamondback baseball..."

Color me disappointed that it was AZ who hired him. But the article also mentions his wife -- has he remarried?

Yeah, when I think of overpaid old farts playing out the string on sporadically productive careers, I think of Matt Williams! And Tampa Bay. Even though he didn't play for Tampa.

Let us now honor Matt Williams, once a third of a killer Giant lineup (praise be to Kevin Mitchell & Neuschler for 2 years of greatness), once a bigtime slugger w/ a Deer-esque swing, always a DL regular, never a guy that would take a walk. That 1995, though, looks nice.

And then there's HOLY SH!T KEVIN MITCHELL! Dude's career line: 4134 ABs | 234 HRs | .284 | .360 | .520!!!

"Like a Kevin Mitchell home run, I'm going, going, GONE!"

He hit 30 HRs in '94... in 95 games. Jeepers.

it's all about mitchell's barehand catch

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Wednesday, 30 March 2005 14:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Jams wins the bobblehead. Kevin Mitchell's barehanded catch through the door = Bo Jackson's run into the locker room.

I remember seeing Matt Williams playing shortstop for the Giants when he first came up. He was a big hoss to play that position.
