Someone on the BoSox said IT'S A LOCK that he's returning to Fenway. What do YOU think?

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 27 April 2006 12:37 (twenty years ago)

depends entirely on who has the best Players' Coffee.

Dr Morbius (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:23 (twenty years ago)

I am shocked that you are even suggesting The Rocket ever used any type of controlled substance during his playing career.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 27 April 2006 13:25 (twenty years ago)

Roger is one of the few players I look at and I can totally see being a speed freak. The hyper-tense jaw, the wild unpredictable behavior and mouth, the weird coloration and random sweats. Oh yeah.

"I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BALL!"

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 27 April 2006 15:14 (twenty years ago)

I would love to see a staring contest between Roger Clemens and Al Leiter.

Tracey Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 27 April 2006 15:26 (twenty years ago)

I would love to see Roger Clemens bodyslam Larry Bowa.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 27 April 2006 15:34 (twenty years ago)

I would love to see Roger Clemens wrestle Ric Flair in an "Amphetamines on a Pole" match.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 27 April 2006 16:01 (twenty years ago)

Current odds (of landing old man Clemens) are:

Houston Astros 3-2

NY Yankees 2-1

Boston Red Sox 9-2

Texas Rangers 10-1

Any other team 5-1

Does not play in 2006 7-2

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Thursday, 27 April 2006 17:08 (twenty years ago)

Speak freak? I don't know about that one. Freak? Most definitely.
I read some story that come out of the US World Cup Team about Jake Peavey asking Clemens about his pre game rituals and one is wiping Icy Hot all over the family jewels and the whole groin area before pitching, so Roger doesn't get comfortable on the pitchers mound.

Personally, I think that is borderline freakier than Alou's hand toughening routine.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Friday, 28 April 2006 07:55 (twenty years ago)

No wonder he throws bats & shit!

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 28 April 2006 11:45 (twenty years ago)

I've heard that the after-effects of popping greenies are similar to the after-effects of dipping your balls in Icy Hot.

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 28 April 2006 11:49 (twenty years ago)

Stop -- you're tempting me to try it.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Friday, 28 April 2006 12:30 (twenty years ago)

CHEAP LEGAL HIGH!!!

otto midnight (otto midnight), Friday, 28 April 2006 12:43 (twenty years ago)

i don't know aobut Icy Hot, but a hyperconcentrated Gold Bond paste works wonders. it's kind of like a peppermint patty for your nutsack.

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Friday, 28 April 2006 19:43 (twenty years ago)

I got real nervous seeing this thread updated right before the yankees thread!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 28 April 2006 20:00 (twenty years ago)

He's supposedly announcing his decision this weekend.

gear (gear), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:09 (twenty years ago)

Why did his agents even bother to deny the reports yesterday?

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:10 (twenty years ago)

I think it's just some sort of knee jerk reaction with them.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 15:14 (twenty years ago)

The deal was yet to be finished until early this morning.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:34 (twenty years ago)

Why did I trade him in my fantasy league. :(

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 16:34 (twenty years ago)

lol, i hurried to login to my fantasy league as soon as i heard it yesterday, and someone had already picked him up out of FA :( WHATEVER HE'S OLD, RIGHT? HE'S NOT GONNA DO SHIT!!!!!

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 18:17 (twenty years ago)

He was available as a FA? Wtf.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 18:55 (twenty years ago)

he was drafted, but got dropped after it became apparent that he was gonna take his sweet time

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 19:16 (twenty years ago)

also, the dude who grabbed him is already in first place! he has pooholes! (those two sentences are probably redundant)

INSANE CLOWN FOSSE (Adrian Langston), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 19:27 (twenty years ago)

This is $1M+ per start, amirite?

I missed the "pro-rated" part of this story at first.

The Jazz Guide to Penguins on Compact Disc (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Clemens is going to Lexington to make a couple of warm up starts, which is where Koby is located in the minors.

Earl Nash (earlnash), Wednesday, 31 May 2006 21:47 (twenty years ago)

he was drafted, but got dropped after it became apparent that he was gonna take his sweet time
