the American League is so much stronger. i also hate the whole Coors Field aspect of game, though it has gotten better. games that end 10 to 11 is not real baseball, look they came back again (at home) from being six runs down. :rolleyes:

There are very few DHs in baseball the AL that I admire, but as a concept, it's hurt the game. The DH has afforded AL pitchers a false thug-bravado and security that you couldn't get away with in the NL.

Few things would be finer than seeing Beckett get an asskicking Wednesday, but I don't expect to see it.

Youk played 18 games in LF in 2006 and wasn't measurably worse at it than Manny. I wouldn't be surprised if they did this and/or sat Ortiz if the Rockies start Morales in Denver.

I'd give Ortiz a rest for a game or two and keep Youk in at first base. Papi's knee could use a break; Youk is locked in. You could also alternate, starting Youk against lefties and Ortiz against righties.

I wouldn't mess around with the outfield much. I don't think Youk has the speed to cover CF, and Manny needs to stay at left -- at least at Fenway, where he's made himself at home (in more ways than one) and where his lack of speed is less of a liability than it is in the vast right field.

in japan in 2006 interleague play matsuzaka went 3 for 9 with a double, 3 rbi, 2 runs scored, and a strikeout.

In Japan, the Pacific League adopted the DH in 1975. In 1988, the minor league Eastern League and Western League used it, but Central League farm clubs are allowed to opt out. i think the ownership group tried to cash in on the long standing (and formerly long suffering) group of supporters by either somehow copyrighting the term or something. i know they printed up "official membership" cards to red sox nation 3 years ago and they were roundly rejected by anyone who knew why mike torrez was a bastard. but there are so many bandwagon jumpers i guess the ownership group sees a way to bleed a couple more bucks out of the idiots who can afford tickets these days.

With this scheduling, my kids barely make it to the third inning. They've now fallen into the habit of waking me up in the morning and asking, "did the Red Sox win?".

You'd think at least on a weekend, MLB/Taco Bell would schedule the games earlier, if only to build the audience of the future.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Boston's sweep of the Colorado Rockies drew better ratings than last season's World Series but fell short of previous years.

The four games averaged a 10.6 rating, the second-lowest ever, ahead of only the 10.1 in 2006 for the St. Louis Cardinals' five-game win over the Detroit Tigers.

Game 4 on Sunday night attracted a 12.6 rating, up 9 percent from the 11.6 for last year's Game 2, which was also on a Sunday.

Game 3 on Saturday night earned an 8.5 rating, the second-lowest rating ever for a World Series game, better only than last year's Game 1, which drew an 8.0 on a Saturday.

The series attracted huge ratings in the Boston area. On average, more than half of all households and more than 70 percent of homes with the TV on were tuned in.

WFXT-TV, the local Fox affiliate, also televised the New England Patriots game earlier Sunday, and it averaged a 43.2 rating from the start of the football through the end of the baseball. When the Red Sox clinched the championship after midnight, 87 percent of households in the Boston area with the TV on were tuned into the game.

Great day for biking in Boston. Glorious weather, cars shying away from the central streets, and of course the "Rolling Rally" - which (thanks to my bike) I took in at a bunch of different spots. Very glad I decided to take the day off.

I was on an overnight flight from the states and thus had to miss game 4 ;_;

It's really weird that the sox won it and I didn't see it. Like it didn't really happen. Honestly, who gets married during the world series?
