He was the poster I was talking about when I said he was the only one who was anywhere near 51 and he was really trying. His posts were also the sort of thing I was talking about when I said "blunt political challops or widespread condescension of the "I alone see what you idiots all refuse to admit" variety".
It was mostly the "fuck you all and your white supremacist nation" type posts that did it fwiw, posts barking at people rather than talking to them. From IP lookups he doesn't appear to be a sock.

kind of intrigued by what caused this as I've not noticed unperson being particularly obnoxious of late

uh, he's been basically the same dude the entire time I've been on ILX -- he's like Shakey Mo -- impressive in his consistency. I see this as more of a barometric shift as you will.
― sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:18 (three years ago) link
He's prickly as hell for sure, but I fp'd him for the first time ever the other day for an insultingly racist & gross attempt at a "joke" (and actually it was the image he posted as follow up that really pushed me)

he earned 18 entirely on the strength of the Trail of Tears “joke” a couple weeks back.

so if not for that he’d still be hovering in the “normal” range of 0-6

Ah yes, I’d forgotten about that episode. 18 in one go is quite something – he certainly knew what he was doing there.

I kind of want to see a generational breakdown of historical bans. Who takes the cake so far? Actual boomers? Gen X? Millennials? Zoomers? Gen Alpha? The Interbellum Generation?
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:34 (three years ago) link
Putting a tenner on gen x, easy

They’ve had more time than the rest of us tbf.
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:39 (three years ago) link
I would say Millennials, but then I think Gen X is only 1962 - 1977
― sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:39 (three years ago) link
Might have known the major infraction was buried on some in terminal uspol thread
― Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:40 (three years ago) link
Interminable, even. But then again
I mean LJ and Whiney were both born after 1980 and they've got at least 3 each
― sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:41 (three years ago) link
You were right the first time.
X starts in 79/80, I think (speaking as someone married to someone too old to be a millennial).
― seumas milm (gyac), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link
Can’t argue with that.xp
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:43 (three years ago) link
I think of X as 1965-1980, more or less.
Sorry X ends, I meant. Tbh being born in 1981 being a millennial is taking the piss imo.
― seumas milm (gyac), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:44 (three years ago) link
millennial begins in 1986. 1981-85 is a zone of nobodies and ghosts
― Chip-vill-A (imago), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:46 (three years ago) link
xp the whole "when is Gen X" reminds me of that Mr. Show sketch where Bob and David argue about being of different generations because one of them is 3 years older than the other (or something like that) ...
― sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:47 (three years ago) link
It’s so weird though because millennials span like 1981-1996 and I tend to think of myself as worlds apart from someone who was born in the 90s (absolute babies, obv.).Xposted from the US pol thread lol.

Which country yields the most ban-happy posters (Denmark excepted)?
― pomenitul, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:51 (three years ago) link
this is how I break it down:
Boomers: 1946 - 1961Gen X: 1962 - 1977Orphans of Generational Ret-conning: 1978 - 1983Millennials: 1978 - 1993
― sarahell, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:51 (three years ago) link
Generation X was first applied to the current generation in 1952, and people finally twisted the spigot closed in the mid-90s.
― erratic wolf angular guitarist (sic), Wednesday, 7 October 2020 20:52 (three years ago) link

maybe it's my Americanism here -- but I feel like someone who did not spend their teen years with a Republican ass-clown President is not really Gen-X. On the other hand, I feel like I've posted this same thing a half dozen times and don't want to die on this pedantic hill
