All forms of music has some form of sex incolced in their music. Country music has the cleanest form of portraying sex. Rap and rock are on the same page because it can be clean or horrible based on who the artist is and how they feel on the subject

Magazines are the next form of portraying raw sex, from car magazines who show girls flossing their sensual bodies over cars. Does this make the car any better? Tehn there is the porno industry again with their nudie magazines showing the world what technology can do to human bodies

Computers, again there are the pornos. All over the internet are hard-core sex sites for everyone's pleasure. People will have cyber-sex through the internet. I'm sorry what kind of pleasure does that bring you. Are you fondeling the computer.

Jess and Tom are right on. The fatist overtones of this whole thread make me sick. Ok, they are annoying. You're making an issue of someones weight as a derogatory statement - "300 pounds of lard banging against the wall". What you are doing is making the reader make a negative image in their mind based on a stereotype you think may already be there. You fucking cunt.

Yes they are annoying. Why make an issue of the girls weight other than to compound your point? Because you are seeking to use prejudice as a way to re-enforce your arguement.

Dear Lesbian21 (nakhchivan), Friday, 20 November 2015 23:35 (two years ago) Permalink

Zeppelin and Sabbath rock and I believe both were influentual in the development of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. My faves are 'Graffiti' by Zep and I love 'Born Again' by Sabbath...must have been too many brews in the early 80's for REB I guess.

But for the person who said 'Zeppelin=Overrated' and then trotted out Creedence FFS! Sheesh!! And to hear Plant getting sledged for his vocals and then having some numbnuts raving on about the monumentally mediocre Cure PURLEASE..

The best point in this entire thread is that Zeppelin's music has stood the test of time and that what passes for rock these days will be forgotten this time next year.

Cheers,

REB

As stupid as not inducting Kraftwerk. Sorry but all your beloved arena rock did NOT change the landscape of music history, they were just popular and you love them. The Smiths brought literature back into music, elevated the importance of lyrical content, spawned many sound alike bands for the remainder of the 80s, are the band that solidified what Brit Pop is and influenced all those bands throughout the 90s. Morrissey is pretty much the greatest lyricist of our time, if you put the time in to pay attention rather than snub them as depressing to avoid any effort. This band is still massively relevant where bands like (because I see them in the next comment) Deep Purple and Cheap Trick have ZERO influence, didn't change rock at all and were just more of the same. Take them out of history and nothing changes. Take the Smiths or Kraftwerk out of history and the change is dramatic. RRHOF needs to put down their knee jerk (focus on jerk) reaction to fawn all over anything stemming from 70s arena rock. It is NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. Nor are those bands relevant in a historical setting. The whole museum is run on popularity as if that makes an act relevant. Sales do not equal historical relevance. Sales are merely the now.

Bowie employs some experimental wordsmithing in his songs. One of the methods I know of is where he writes (or copies) verse and then cuts it apart, into pieces of paper with words/phrases on them. Then he mixes them all up an reassembles them randomly, filling in here & there to make segues. I don't think he transfers that directly to a lyric sheet, but he uses it to spark further inspiration (I guess via juxtoposition of words that had no prior relationship.) So the end product may not mean much to you, but it means something to him. And lyrically - sometimes it works and sometimes not as much.

77 KURT VILE - B’lieve I'm Goin Down – Someone played me one of his albums once and it was very boring.
76 PROJECT PABLO - I Want to Believe – Not heard of.
75 BRANDON FLOWERS - The Desired Effect – wtf?
74 DICK DIVER - Melbourne, Florida – Not heard of.
73 BARONESS – Purple – Not heard of.
72 EEK – Kahraba – Not heard of.
71 FOUR TET - Morning/Evening – Love him, love this, played it lots and lots. Beautiful, soothing. Good music for raising a small child.
70 GHOST – Meliora – Never heard of.
69 FETTY WAP - Fetty Wap – Never heard of.
68 NEON INDIAN - VEGA Intl. Night School – Never heard.
67 DEAFHEAVEN - New Bermuda – Listened to the last one a few times and it was just grunty metal with Explosions In The Sky segues. No interest in listening to this.
66 JME - Integrity> - never heard of.
65 COLLEEN GREEN - I Want To Grow Up – never heard of.
64 JOAN SHELLEY - Over and Even – never heard of.
63 HEALTH - DEATH MAGIC – Never heard of.
62 NEW ORDER - Music Complete – Didn’t hear.
61 DOMENIQUE DUMONT - Comme ça – Never heard of.
60 KAITLIN AURELIA SMITH – Euclid – never heard of.
59 COLLEEN - Captain of None – Intrigued to listen to this. May investigate.
58 DEERHUNTER - Fading Frontier – Not a fan, didn’t listen to.
57 TY DOLLA $IGN - Free TC – never heard of.
56 FATHER JOHN MISTY - I Love You, Honeybear – Avoided this for months because he seemed like a massive wanker, and was repulsed on first contact by Chateau whatever, but actually did a huge about-turn and really like this now. Mainly due to Dorian’s enthusiasm, which made me reinvestigate it. He still seems like massive wanker, though.
55 f(x) - 4 Walls – Never heard of.
54 HELEN - The Original Faces – never heard of.
53 MBONGWANA STAR - From Kinshasa – Love this, great record, Kala is the track that won me over first, not that the rest of it wasn’t impressing me.
52 PANDA BEAR - Panda Bear Meets The Grim Reaper – listened to this quite a big in the early days of the year and then forgot about it. Prefer it to Tomboy but don’t like it anywhere near as much as Person Pitch.
51 TAME IMPALA – Currents – Not listened, no interest.
50 FUTURE - Beast Mode – Never heard this guy.
49 TOVE STRYKE – Kiddo – never heard of.
48 LEVON VINCENT - Levon Vincent – Never heard of.
47 JUTE GYTE - Ship of Theseus – Tempted to listen because of imago’s unfettered wanking over it, just to hear what it is, but assume I’d just go ‘wtf’ and turn it off within moments.
46 JIM O'ROURKE - Simple Songs – never felt inspired enough to pick this up, though I like O’Rourke well enough.
45 STARA RZEKA - Zamknęły się oczy ziemi – never heard of.
44 DUMBLONDE – Dumblonde – never heard of.
43 LOW - Ones and Sixes – Em bought this. It’s a Low record, and sound like a Low record. I like it well enough.
42 DJ RICHARD – Grind – never heard of this.
41 Aphex Twin aka user18081971 - 2015 SoundCloud Dump – downloaded the 16 tracks that someone kindly filtered into a playlist, and really enjoyed them. Is he going to release an actual compilation drawn from this stuff? I’d like that. Because otherwise how do you parse 200 tracks all by the same person at once, when there’s so much other stuff to listen to?
40 THE MOUNTAIN GOATS - Beat The Champ – didn’t hear this.
39 HOP ALONG - Painted Shut – never heard of.
38 BEACH HOUSE - Depression Cherry – Not a fan.
37 YEARS & YEARS – Communion – didn’t hear this.
36 LANA DEL REY – Honeymoon – had no idea she’d released an album.
35 JANET JACKSON – Unbreakable – same as above.
34 ANGEL HAZE - Back to the Woods – not heard this.
33 ALGIERS – Algiers – Really like this, would have voted for it. Felt like part of a thing with Kamasi, D’Angelo and Kendrick, somehow, albeit coming from a different direction.
32 ABRA – Rose – not heard of.
31 SLEATER-KINNEY - No Cities to Love – never really paid attention to SK before but really enjoyed this, and bought a couple of their old albums off the back of it. Nothing life-changing but really enjoyable.
30 KAMASI WASHINGTON - The Epic – Really like bits, but heard so much jazz that I preferred last year (Sons of Kemet and Polar Bear to name two straight away), and the sheer length and scope of this made it difficult to consume on a practical level. Glad it exists and is doing so well.
29 FUTURE - 56 Nights – not heard.
28 KEHLANI - You Should Be Here – not heard.
27 EARL SWEATSHIRT - I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside – not heard.
26 CHELSEA WOLFE – Abyss – not heard.
25 DESTROYER - Poison Season – really like this, probably as much as Kaputt. Songs are really strong, arrangements are amazing. Listened to this in a big binge when it came out and haven’t revisited that often, though.
24 JLIN - Dark Energy – hot heard.
23 JEREMIH - Late Nights: The Album – never heard of.
22 RÓISÍN MURPHY - Hairless Toys – not heard.
21 HOLLY HERNDON – Platform – really intrigued to hear this, but never seen a copy to pick up.
20 FUTURE - DS2 – never heard.
19 ASHLEY MONROE - The Blade – never heard.
18 CHVRCHES - Every Open Eye – never heard.
17 BJÖRK – Vulnicura – admire it more than I like it. Played debut last night. Adore that record.
16 YOUNG THUG - Barter 6 – never heard of.
14 (tie) RAE SREMMURD – SremmLife – never heard of.
14 (tie) JOANNA NEWSOM - Divers – Em bought this. It’s a Joanna Newsom record. She’s obviously very talented.
13 COURTNEY BARNETT - Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit – Quite like this in a completely con-commital way.
12 FLOATING POINTS – Elaenia – wish this had more jazz and more dance (in the vein of the earlier singles), but it’s really good nonetheless. Middle third loses too much energy.
11 SUFJAN STEVENS - Carrie & Lowell – boguth this for Em just before Xmas. It’s very pretty but I want to punch him.
10 JULIA HOLTER - Have You in My Wilderness – admire this, but didn’t connect to it emotionally. Preferred Loud City Song.
9 ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER - Garden of Delete – bought this just before Xmas and haven’t listened much. Intriguing.
8 VINCE STAPLES - Summertime '06 – heard a couple of tracks which I thought were alright.
7 JAZMINE SULLIVAN - Reality Show – never heard of this.
6 MIGUEL – Wildheart – never listened to this dude.
5 DAWN RICHARD – Blackheart – never heard this.
4 GRIMES - Art Angels – really like this. Really really like it.
3 CARLY RAE JEPSEN – Emotion – never heard this.
2 SUSANNE SUNDFØR - Ten Love Songs – this is awesome. Bought it because of the hype on here.
1 KENDRICK LAMAR - To Pimp A Butterfly – admire this a lot, and love bits of it. Hip hop hasn’t been my thing for a long, long time now. It’s obviously an impressive achievement but I doubt I’ll ever get as much from it as some people.

Things I would have voted for but wouldn’t have stood a chance: Polar Bear, Sons of Kemet, Battles, Young Fathers, East India Youth, House of Blondes, Shamir.

Thought it over once again, and Sanders would have definitely won. I think. He would have campaigned in the midwest

they were so good live, the harmonising was flawless and the performance of "Hey" they're doing was so stripped back and pure - it made me think to myself "this would make a lovely wedding song."

Can't believe it's been over 4 years since the sorry that's just how I feel/memetic enlivening era

Let it not be said that I don't appreciate abstract film in general, nor that I don't appreciate Brakhage's films specifically. A cursory glace at my list of favorite films will quickly dispel such notions. However, I have to be blunt about this: Dog Star man is mind-numbingly boring! It takes far, far too long and reveals only material that is either sub-par or plain ugly. It is both his most ambitious film and his least accomplished one. That smells like pretentiousness.

Probably the most overrated movie of all time. I'm usually a fan of classics and cherished films such as these. My reasons for hating this movie are all legitimate. I don't hate this movie because of its age, or lack of color or whatever other immature crap I'm forgetting

I'm not someone who's easily bored when it comes to movies - I love The Godfather, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Scarface, Goodfellas; all very long movies that many consider to be boring, but I consider them all to be entertaining.

This is ultra-weird pretentious crap. Some would have you believe that in fact it's so bad that by some exotic philosophical logic it becomes really good again. Don't believe the rumors though: crap = crap. Some might even argue that it's a self-parody and that therefore it's actually a success. Don't believe that either: Plan 9 wouldn't all of a sudden become a good film if it were revealed that it was in fact a self-parody: to be sure, such a revelation might up the score a little bit but it could never score a sufficient mark, because the film is just intrinsically bad, no matter what the intentions of it's makers were.

Kirsten Dunst clearly now thinking she can bare her breasts in a Von Trier film because of course its 'tastefully done' - Im sorry but if I put some Mozart over a porno I could make the same case. The only thing that makes people think this type of nudity in film is any different is because its 'artsy' but the truth is its just long, montages of scenery & imagery with classical music complementing it and replacing what might have made a decent screenplay.

POPPYCOCK! WHAT A 'ORRIBLE FILM!

― sarahell, Thursday, January 31, 2013 7:31 PM (four years ago)

The movie I reviewed is overrated garbage. I wanted a Batman film, not the corny or realistic dull filler types. A Batman film that represents the character, the adventure from comics or a new one, and the fictional legend. It must be grim, dark, brutal, brooding, serious (not like TDK which is still better than TDKR), amazing, stylized not dull, action packed while not UFC-based like in TDKR, mysterious like Batman stories SHOUL BE, and fun. Fun, not boring.
