Come on Jase, you'll have to do a lot better than that champ :) For a start, that line should have been used BEFORE both teams were on the bottom of the pile. Saying this line now is just Trolling at it's most unimaginative, but saying it pre-season it becomes a clever (for a Port fan) jibe at another club's expense.

Remember he who laughs last laughs longest and unless you barrack for the Lions it might as well be us Cat fans because you blokes haven't even managed what we 'achieved' in the 1990's. And when Port lose in September (for something new) and JSA-posting activity drops to Zero then REB will be laughing all the way. 4th, Last...all the same, except we get the draft picks while your monkey grows.

Cheers,

REB

I vote for Carlton. Coz I can.
But can Collingwood swap Didak for Nick Stevens and can Heath Scotland come back? We could use 'em :)

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahh the 90's they seem so long ago, and hasnt the draft worked wonders for the cats.

jsa, Tuesday, 13 April 2004 05:31 (twenty-two years ago)

...er...no, we haven't finished lower than 12th so we've got nothing. If we were as bad as the Saints and the Dockers were a few years ago we wouldn't be last now.

REB

so youve had pick 5 or 6, hardly nothing

maybe geelong have to make the hard decision of pissing of a few blokes that dont have a crack, such as kingsley, graham etc even riccardi.

jsa, Tuesday, 13 April 2004 06:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Agreed big time on Kingsley and time appears to have passed Riccardi by. Why not return Graham to full back where he played his best footy and let Scarlo lose up forward because what we got now ain't working.

Well picked up Jase, at last somebody has nailed the lamest excuse for mediocrity of all time: the 'we only get draft choice 6' whinge.

The day you can say with any certainty that the 6th best 17 year old footballer going round (and that's only in the far from infallible opinion of Kevin Sheehan and Slug Jordan) isn't just as much of a chance to be the next Hird or Voss as the best or second best, find another sport to watch fellas because the AFL is doomed.

The idea seems to be that draft choice 2 should turn out to be twice as good a player as no 4 who is most likely twice the player no 8 is. The idea is crap.

(But I will agree that the 'extra' picks do give a massive advantage. Maybe a club that gets a priority pick should lose its regular second or third-round turn.)

REB,

trading Graham might get you 2 good ordinary players who will consistently put in and put their body on the line and might play 150+ games each

jsa, Tuesday, 13 April 2004 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

well, that was the point I was trying to make there Frederick, we haven't got the the extra picks that Freo and the Saints got. Some other reasons for our current malaise include a genuine inability to lure experienced personnel down the highway and some pretty ordinary recruiting that has left us with no genuine scoring options.

REB
