Yes I think 'gunna's' is a good name for them!
And jsa, there will probably be no end of mention in tonight's game of how hard done by poor old Collingwood is without Bucks. You're probably right, Mr Ed's probably with his greek mate now trying to sort out another date!

On the whole, I think I'd rather Bne played the mouth from the south's side than the one they got yesterday which can play. West Coast really made Bne work; a pity about all those missed shots and what was Tim Notting doing trying to pass the ball rather than having a shot from 50?
Ciao

― Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 18 April 2004 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)
unfortunately, too few blokes carrying too many passengers.
As for the passenger list, I'll start here. These are the blokes who are not doing their end of the bargain, and seemingly not having a good go
Jason Cloke, O'Bree, Woewodin, Didak, Cole, Holland, Rhyce Bloody Shaw, Neon Leon - your lights have gone out.
At least Presti, Wakelin, Clement have a crack, Fraser and Burns give their all even if Fraser gets outbodied by everyone. Rocca will come good again, and the kids who have not been blooded in the last two years will be better for the time on the field.
Its not a Richmond style end of the world, but write the season off as now a rebuilding exercise. A spot in the 8 is possible but now unlikely, but by giving teh kids a chance and clearing out the dead wood a season later than they should have been could allow for one last Buckley chance at a GF...

The guy is a bit suspect head-wise.
Trying to be the thug to spur the team on isn't a real good choice when, if it comes to a bit more than push and shove, the back up brigade are eating custard.
Definitely needs to have another look at his role.
And I agree with Jase, I thought Cole was a trier all game.
He's a good mark, terrific kick and can play a bit but should leave the thinking to those that can handle it.

That statement is proof you know little about football that exists outside the Sunshine state. Buckley would be in the elite 10 footballers on any observers list. Scottie Burns would never make one of these lists...

Benno OTM with the Eddiewood assessments tho..
ps - cheer up Jase, it's just one loss. Having Chad out was just one too many missing. You blokes will be top four yet again.

And unfortunately outside the collingwood game, we have an easy run in the next 6 weeks so we wont be able to have a real test for a while
― jsa, Monday, 19 April 2004 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)
I bet lucy's lions scarf was first purchased around the last week in september 2001. :)

Put in Cornes, Hardwick, Pickett into that defence and bang there you go, you've got rebound again and the confidence to kick long and direct to Tredrea. When you've got a lot of youngsters in your team the game plan sometimes goes out the window as players play for their spot instead of for each other - ask any Cat fan.
I think Choco has done well this year and I am surprised that Port has been able to kick big scores regularly with Chad in defence - that move has worked a treat and having a big marking CHB who can rally the troops in defence appears to be a key to your game plan. However, what Choco was trying to do with Tredders last week was a bit of a mystery. It's a bit hard trying to mark the ball when you are running into the forward 50 from the wing!!
I admit that the Demons game was a flashback to the Collingwood final last year but I think you won't be seeing it again if you have anything resembling your full side (not including Primus and Francou of course)out there, but I reckon you need Dewy and James back sooner rather than later.
PS - Aaron Davey, Wanga's cousin. It's a sin that 15 clubs missed out on drafting this kid but Port missing out on him could be a blue of Matty Primus proportions!!
― Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)
Aaron Davey, im sure this kid played at port adelaide a few years ago??
its a shame, but hopefully he wants to come and play with all his cousins at the power, hed be most welcome.
― jsa, Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)
Firstly jsa, I've had my Bears Scarf since 1994.
I still think Port play better without Primearse, but yest I agree I was wrong about Jonathan Brown.
As for the grassroots and jumping on board - whether I've been a supporter for 10 years of 10 weeks has bugger all to do with it, this mentality of only long, long term supporters having any credibility is crap. You want to grown the game - you need new supporters. Otherwise bugger off back to the VFL and the SANFL and WAFL and QAFL.
― Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)
If you expect the Collingwood game to be tough, it won't. If the Pies lose their next 2, expect a sub-5 match winning season and priority picks for 2005 to refresh the list...

Everybody raved about Jarred Brennon's debut(quite rightly), but I reckon this bloke has looked even better. Silky is the first word that comes into my mind when watching him.
― chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)
If Nick Reiwoldt isn't the next superstar of the game, can someone tell me who is?
― Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)
ps benno, i reckon he is already a superstar

Burns is a good player for Collingwood, and yes I'd choose him over Buckley. As I said earlier "I'd much rather have Burns than Buckley but then we don't need him! " Note the "...BUT THEN WE DON'T NEED HIM!"
As for superstars I'll start at1 Blacke Caracella2 Chris Johnson3 Michael Voss4 Craig McRae5 Brad Scott6 Luke Power8 Tim Notting9 Ashley McGrath10 Marcus Ashcroft (even retired he's brilliant)11 Alastair Lynch12 Jason Akermanis13 Martin Pike14 Richard Hadley15 Mal Michael16 Jonathan Brown17 Jared Brennan18 Anthony Corrie19 Jamie Charman20 Simon Black22 Chris Scott23 Justin Leppitsch25 Dylan McLaren27 Clark Keating30 Robbie Copeland32 Shaun Hart33 Darryl White34 Aaron Shattock36 Daniel Bradshaw43 Beau McDonald (even injured)44 Nigel Lappin
Now that's what I call a team of superstars!

I'm surprised Mick Malthouse hasn't called me up this week if he's after a bit of passion and mongrel for the ANZAC day game...

But Burns at his best or worst would fetch half a dozen of Bucks at HIS worst, which we saw in all that kick-chasing and whinging self-indulgent crap he went on with in the middle stages of his career.
Scott has always been a whole-hearted, team-orientated player. Nathan has only been that some of the time.

God bless you JSA!!! After reading your tips last week and also some of the comments that accompanied those tips, quite frankly I would have been most concerned if you tipped us.
