Buckley has been ruled out for 4 weeks with a back related injury.

That's it, I'm tipping Freo now...

Bennö (Bennö), Friday, 16 April 2004 01:53 (twenty-two years ago)

That injury would have been sustained by always trying to 'bend over backward' to please Mr Ed!!!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 16 April 2004 02:01 (twenty-two years ago)

That was a cheeky crack Luce. How TF do you get a back injury from sitting on the interchange Benno?

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 16 April 2004 02:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Obviously REB if his crack were more 'cheeky' his back wouldn't be hurting so much. It's a well known fact if you spend too much time sitting on hard benchs with no padding you'll get a sore back!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 16 April 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Hats off Gorilla Girl, you know a hole lot more than me ha ha. That's what you get for scraping the bottom of the barrell for jokes - I'll bet Collingwood are getting tired of being the butt of everyone's jokes. Perhaps they could change their name to Arsenal.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 16 April 2004 03:04 (twenty-two years ago)

What!!! COllingwood with an injury??? perhaps eddie can lobby the afl to have the games postponed.

Now we will see how strong collingwood are

jsa, Friday, 16 April 2004 03:42 (twenty-two years ago)

We've already seen how powerfull Collingwood are.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 16 April 2004 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"Perhaps they could change their name to Arsenal."

Yes I think 'gunna's' is a good name for them!

And jsa, there will probably be no end of mention in tonight's game of how hard done by poor old Collingwood is without Bucks. You're probably right, Mr Ed's probably with his greek mate now trying to sort out another date!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 16 April 2004 04:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed will shine as a commentator tonight. I don't mind him as a commentator until it's a bloody Collingwood game. His passion for the game is excellent, he knows the players and usually comes up with some good comments, even the odd good joke...once he opens the other eye.

NO ED FOR COLLINGWOOD MATCHES...Too bloody easy hey?

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 16 April 2004 06:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Watched the replay of The Footy Show last night while waiting for the Essendon game to be shown. Bloody Eddie now he's blaming Leigh Matthews. He's obviously living in his own cocoon if he thinks nothing was said about his commentary until Leigh came out in support of Umpires, what a *****ng idiot he is.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 16 April 2004 22:33 (twenty-two years ago)

You didn't notice Malthouse's opinion piece in the Oz?

On the whole, I think I'd rather Bne played the mouth from the south's side than the one they got yesterday which can play. West Coast really made Bne work; a pity about all those missed shots and what was Tim Notting doing trying to pass the ball rather than having a shot from 50?

Ciao

deelion (deelion), Saturday, 17 April 2004 20:57 (twenty-two years ago)

deelion, poor old Tim, I would guess he was feeling a touch of pressure following last weeks spotlight!

He'll be right.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 18 April 2004 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

collingwood are in pooooo.

unfortunately, too few blokes carrying too many passengers.

As for the passenger list, I'll start here. These are the blokes who are not doing their end of the bargain, and seemingly not having a good go

Jason Cloke, O'Bree, Woewodin, Didak, Cole, Holland, Rhyce Bloody Shaw, Neon Leon - your lights have gone out.

At least Presti, Wakelin, Clement have a crack, Fraser and Burns give their all even if Fraser gets outbodied by everyone. Rocca will come good again, and the kids who have not been blooded in the last two years will be better for the time on the field.

Its not a Richmond style end of the world, but write the season off as now a rebuilding exercise. A spot in the 8 is possible but now unlikely, but by giving teh kids a chance and clearing out the dead wood a season later than they should have been could allow for one last Buckley chance at a GF...

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 19 April 2004 05:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Benno, whilst its delightful to see collingwood suffer, i think you a little harsh on cole, i thought he played ok and at least had a crack.

jsa, Monday, 19 April 2004 06:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks Jase...

Probably harsh on Cole, he may be on the improve. The rest deserve their baggings...

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 19 April 2004 06:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Dont worry benno after the weekend weve got a couple, do u want to swap burygoyne, lade, bishop, chocko, the assist coaches, the f$%^ed up game plan??

jsa, Monday, 19 April 2004 06:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Your blokes will at least have more than one win on the board after 6 matches..... Collingwood won't...

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 19 April 2004 06:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Benno, I reckon you should add Rocca to that list.

The guy is a bit suspect head-wise.

Trying to be the thug to spur the team on isn't a real good choice when, if it comes to a bit more than push and shove, the back up brigade are eating custard.

Definitely needs to have another look at his role.

And I agree with Jase, I thought Cole was a trier all game.

He's a good mark, terrific kick and can play a bit but should leave the thinking to those that can handle it.

Westener (Westener), Monday, 19 April 2004 10:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Benno, as you may have guessed Eddiewood are not my favourite team, however I agree the Josh Fraser and Scotty Burns are probably the most underrated players in your side. Burns is better than Buckley by far and as you say Fraser just keeps on trying never gives up. As for Rocca, he's obviously having trouble getting his elbows up again!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 19 April 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"Burns is better than Buckley by far"

Lucy i suspect your suffering from heat stroke

I know who id rather have in my side

jsa, Monday, 19 April 2004 22:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes you're right jsa, I'd much rather have Burns than Buckley but then we don't need him!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 19 April 2004 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Lucy

That statement is proof you know little about football that exists outside the Sunshine state. Buckley would be in the elite 10 footballers on any observers list. Scottie Burns would never make one of these lists...

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 19 April 2004 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Geez, if I had heat stroke the last thing I would want is Burns.

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 19 April 2004 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

LOL@Chrisso and at Gorilla Girl's diminishing credibility. Buckley leaves Burns for dead but this season Burns has played the better footy.

Benno OTM with the Eddiewood assessments tho..

regards,

REB

ps - cheer up Jase, it's just one loss. Having Chad out was just one too many missing. You blokes will be top four yet again.

r

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Monday, 19 April 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

REB, its only one loss but i didnt like what i saw, it was back to the final against collingwood, same bullshit gameplan same blokes copping out, same big names failing.

And unfortunately outside the collingwood game, we have an easy run in the next 6 weeks so we wont be able to have a real test for a while

jsa, Monday, 19 April 2004 23:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Unfortunately benno, this is what happens when they arent grassroots supporters, they jump on board as soon as the glory comes, make ridiculous comments like lynch isnt a druggie, they arent salary cap cheats and burns is better than buckley, oh not forgetting port play better without primus and john brown is just an ok footballer.

I bet lucy's lions scarf was first purchased around the last week in september 2001. :)

jsa, Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:04 (twenty-two years ago)

As you know Jase it pains me to say nice things about you wharfie mongrels but I think the reason you blokes 'reverted to type' is that there wasn't enough experience on the ground.

Put in Cornes, Hardwick, Pickett into that defence and bang there you go, you've got rebound again and the confidence to kick long and direct to Tredrea. When you've got a lot of youngsters in your team the game plan sometimes goes out the window as players play for their spot instead of for each other - ask any Cat fan.

I think Choco has done well this year and I am surprised that Port has been able to kick big scores regularly with Chad in defence - that move has worked a treat and having a big marking CHB who can rally the troops in defence appears to be a key to your game plan. However, what Choco was trying to do with Tredders last week was a bit of a mystery. It's a bit hard trying to mark the ball when you are running into the forward 50 from the wing!!

I admit that the Demons game was a flashback to the Collingwood final last year but I think you won't be seeing it again if you have anything resembling your full side (not including Primus and Francou of course)out there, but I reckon you need Dewy and James back sooner rather than later.

regards,

REB

PS - Aaron Davey, Wanga's cousin. It's a sin that 15 clubs missed out on drafting this kid but Port missing out on him could be a blue of Matty Primus proportions!!

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:18 (twenty-two years ago)

REB, whilst agreeing with our injuries i am still concerned about our game plan, or lack of it and the fact if we have a plan we only have plan A and no B,

Aaron Davey, im sure this kid played at port adelaide a few years ago??

its a shame, but hopefully he wants to come and play with all his cousins at the power, hed be most welcome.

jsa, Tuesday, 20 April 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Firstly jsa, I've had my Bears Scarf since 1994.

I still think Port play better without Primearse, but yest I agree I was wrong about Jonathan Brown.

As for the grassroots and jumping on board - whether I've been a supporter for 10 years of 10 weeks has bugger all to do with it, this mentality of only long, long term supporters having any credibility is crap. You want to grown the game - you need new supporters. Otherwise bugger off back to the VFL and the SANFL and WAFL and QAFL.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:02 (twenty-two years ago)

"And unfortunately outside the collingwood game we have an easy run in the next 6 weeks so we wont be able to have a real test for a while "

If you expect the Collingwood game to be tough, it won't. If the Pies lose their next 2, expect a sub-5 match winning season and priority picks for 2005 to refresh the list...

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:11 (twenty-two years ago)

chill lucy

jsa, Tuesday, 20 April 2004 03:24 (twenty-two years ago)

- Aaron Davey, Wanga's cousin. It's a sin that 15 clubs missed out on drafting this kid

Everybody raved about Jarred Brennon's debut(quite rightly), but I reckon this bloke has looked even better. Silky is the first word that comes into my mind when watching him.

chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 04:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Davey and Jarod Rivers are looking the goods - and Adam Cooney is a star in the making. All three look like key members of their struggling clubs lineups for a few years to come

If Nick Reiwoldt isn't the next superstar of the game, can someone tell me who is?

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Ball from the saints
Judd from teh egirls
and According to Lucy, Burns from collingwood

ps benno, i reckon he is already a superstar

jsa, Tuesday, 20 April 2004 05:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Benno, a superstar? You wharfies are easily impressed!

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 06:17 (twenty-two years ago)

JSa, let me set this record straight.

Burns is a good player for Collingwood, and yes I'd choose him over Buckley. As I said earlier "I'd much rather have Burns than Buckley but then we don't need him! " Note the "...BUT THEN WE DON'T NEED HIM!"

As for superstars I'll start at
1 Blacke Caracella
2 Chris Johnson
3 Michael Voss
4 Craig McRae
5 Brad Scott
6 Luke Power
8 Tim Notting
9 Ashley McGrath
10 Marcus Ashcroft (even retired he's brilliant)
11 Alastair Lynch
12 Jason Akermanis
13 Martin Pike
14 Richard Hadley
15 Mal Michael
16 Jonathan Brown
17 Jared Brennan
18 Anthony Corrie
19 Jamie Charman
20 Simon Black
22 Chris Scott
23 Justin Leppitsch
25 Dylan McLaren
27 Clark Keating
30 Robbie Copeland
32 Shaun Hart
33 Darryl White
34 Aaron Shattock
36 Daniel Bradshaw
43 Beau McDonald (even injured)
44 Nigel Lappin

Now that's what I call a team of superstars!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Ya shoulda seen me on the weekend REB, patrolling the backline for the mighty Woden Blues...

I'm surprised Mick Malthouse hasn't called me up this week if he's after a bit of passion and mongrel for the ANZAC day game...

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

It will be a day of shame when we witness the mass desertion of the (Collingwood) army on what was once our proudest day :)

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Collingwood will win the ANZAC day clash, essendon are overrated hacks, beaten Egirls 2 weeks ago after leading them by 8 goals fell over the line by 1, then beat carlton, no probs benno collingwood easy

jsa, Wednesday, 21 April 2004 01:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Have you seen the Pies play lately? They are going terrible... Softer than a Matty Lloyd free kick...

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 01:41 (twenty-two years ago)

No way Jase. The Pies won't win without Buckley and Tarrant. Burns looks pretty sore at the moment as well. Fraser and Rocca can't do it all on their own. Essendon may be 'overrated hacks' but the Pies aren't firing on all cylinders and may struggle to knock off the Blues the week after.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 02:38 (twenty-two years ago)

To throw my two cents worth in on Burns v Buckley: Buckley at his best is better than Scott Burns at his best, and all but half a dozen max. of all the players Buckley has ever played with or against.

But Burns at his best or worst would fetch half a dozen of Bucks at HIS worst, which we saw in all that kick-chasing and whinging self-indulgent crap he went on with in the middle stages of his career.

Scott has always been a whole-hearted, team-orientated player. Nathan has only been that some of the time.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

God bless you JSA!!! After reading your tips last week and also some of the comments that accompanied those tips, quite frankly I would have been most concerned if you tipped us.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 21 April 2004 03:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Save your concern for when Hird and Lloyd are gone Chrisso, you'll need it!
