Some totally useless bit of info for you.
The last quarter of the Adel v Rich game tonight will be the 50,000th quarter of VFL/AFL football (during a premiership season) since 1897.

I told you it was useless info but you had to read it. ;)

The saddest thing is, somebody sat down and worked that out.

(Does the second quarter tonight count as only half a quarter because only one side participated in it?)

I reckon it was Hawka who worked it out Fred :) Nice win by your boys yesterday btw, the best effort by Carlton for many seasons. That new kid Walker ran himself to a standstill. Dare we say it...Blues for the 8?

regards,

REB

Dare we say it...Blues for the 8?

Dare we say it, the Eagles to miss the 8?

That new kid Walker ran himself to a standstill.

And very nearly took the mark of the year. I've only seen highlights of the match but the kid looked remarkably composed for someone playing their first match. Were the highlights indicative?

"Dare we say it...Blues for the 8?"

At this stage, no, we daren't.

Re Walker: If ex-Blue Jimmy Plunkett happened to be in the crowd watching his old side yesterday, he would have seen that this Mister Walker isn't bothered by much either, especially on the football field, and can look forward to having many good weekends.

Others whinged about the wind and the dodgy surface, he played on council and school ovals until two seasons ago and couldn't have cared less, he just went out and played. His enthusiasm livened the team up, just like Steve Silvagni and Tim Watson's first games before him. In the short term, his effect on the rest of the team may well outlast his own spot in it, just like SOS and Tim but we know how those boys turned out.

Two walk-up starts already for the 2004 WILHG* 1st XVIII: Brett Johnston and Heath Scotland. Jordan Bannister is also proving a handy acquisition.

Like I've said Fred- swap you a Didak for a Stevens, or can I have Heath Scotland back?

Hey Westener

HOw is Chipper Adkins going? You can have Williams back - he hasn't been the same since knocking himself out in round 5 or 6 last year

Bennö (Bennö), Sunday, 25 April 2004 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Adkins was darn near the Coolers' best yesterday.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Sunday, 25 April 2004 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

But he was about the only one used to Melbournes terrible weather....

I did not see the game (Foxtel reconnected June 2 - so close but yet so far) - but I thought he used to be handy. I prefer second string on-ballers to ordinary pockets and specialist flankers...

Bennö (Bennö), Sunday, 25 April 2004 09:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Adkins one of the few shining lights yesterday Benno.

E-girls played like them.

Very disappointing to say the least.

Westener (Westener), Sunday, 25 April 2004 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

E-girls, great midfield and thats it

jsa, Tuesday, 27 April 2004 06:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Give them Gardiner back, and I am sure they would be more.....

They do have to stop recruiting one dimensional man mountain full forwards though

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 27 April 2004 06:41 (twenty-two years ago)

McDougall will be a good player pretty soon by all accounts but he looked absolutely clueless on Saturday. May have been the wind, as Jack Dyer memorably said once, they don't have wind where he comes from....
