At this stage I'm reserving my right to tip until the very last minute. My tipping has been going so well I think I'm in contention for the wooden spoon!!! Thank God the Lions have been reasonably consistent. Mind you I did pick Hawthorn and the Cats last week - shame about the rest!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 19 May 2004 06:57 (twenty-two years ago)

That means I can't make my tips till late as well because I've been tipping against Banana Babe and making out like a bandit.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Thursday, 20 May 2004 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

So you'd be doing pretty good in your tips then REB - 'cause mine are shocking

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 20 May 2004 04:45 (twenty-two years ago)

COLL - May now be spoon fave but most of the season Addledville have been playing worse

MELB - But expect a huge fright. Off beat prediction: before five minutes have gone in the first quarter, Ignoramus Rex will have nicknamed new Demon Sylvia, or at the very least made some assinine reference to his mother and Dr Hook

FREO - The missing faces in the Brisbane team must start having an impact sometime

ESS - Just to annoy REB and suck up to Chrisso

PORT - Can Bitcho string together three good'uns in a row? Not in this universe

SYDNEY - For just about the last time if they don't salute on Sunday

CARLTON - Both teams can look good losing but Carlton are steadier when victory threatens

ST KILDA - Barring a surprise retirement announcement from Cousins or Wirrapunda

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 21 May 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)

OK here I go - double misere.

Adelaide - 'cause none of us are free to play for Collingwood tonight!
Kangaroos - don't know why but everyone else seems to be tipping Melbourne.
Brisbane - I reckon we'll fight back, don't discount the talent of the rest of the team, I believe we've proven many times we are not a one man team
Port Adelaide -- Because Richardson plays for Richmond and I don't like him
Essendon - CATS playing really well but I think this will be a 'big' game and Essendon have more experience in those
Hawthorn - Goodes wont play and not sure if Sydney know how to lift and fight back
Bulldogs - they are ready for a win and have had some goal practise
West Coast - Upset

There you go REB now you know who you're backing!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 21 May 2004 00:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Collingwood - Pies are poo, cows are poo. its a poo-a-thon. Pies just...
Roos - One man don't maketh a team, but Archer giveth a heart to a team that lacked one.
Freo - Bris-vegas has lost too many to win.
Port - Because they are playing Richmond. Richo due for a shocker.
Essendon - by less than most think. I hope Geelong win though...
Sydney - At home, won't lose again. Went back to their shrink that helped last year, ready to go again.
Dogs - they have to kick straight soon enough, and will start to win games and believe
Saints - by PLENTY

Bennö (Bennö), Friday, 21 May 2004 01:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Folks there is a decided lack of confidence by contributors around the tipping each week - be bold, loud and proud!!

Adelaide - surely talent will over come the "backs to the wall" war cry from the Pie's. Expect Ed to talk up a "brave effort" from the Magpies

Kangaroos - Have had the wood on the D's in recent years and must bring something from a HUGH win last week-end

Freo - Lions on the road for the third game in four and second visit to Perth in a month, Keating looked very under-done on the weekend, Bradshaw and Pike in key forward roles etc. etc.

Port - out to prove a thing or two to their supporters and the rest of the League

Essendon - Seagulls on the improve in a big way but not up to the Bombers just yet

Hawthorn - Spider has been Hawks best player all year by a street and Sydney cannot cover him in anyway, especially if/when he goes forward

Carlton - played some good footy in Q4 last week to prevent a cricket score, few more older and harder heads then 'Doggies

St Kilda - to many forward marking options for the Eagles and it don't rain at the Dome (future note, it does rain and blow a bit at the MCG, where they do still play big finals matches)

So there is 8/8, what's so hard about that people

Big Bird (Big Bird), Friday, 21 May 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Folks there is a decided lack of confidence by contributors around the tipping each week - be bold, loud and proud!!

Big Bird, for me, this equates to a jinx.

Collingwood - because it's in Melbourne.
Dees - they have something to prove, if they lose this one the term 'flash in the pan' will be bandied.
Lions - Freo are imposters.
Port - depends on Richo, if he has a day out....tend to agree with Fred though.
Sydney - they have to many good players to keep losing
Carlton - the close one.
Saints - no Jacko, no West Coast.:-)

chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)

COWS - Collingwood have good record against the Cows in recent seasons but check out the best performers of recent Cows v Pies matches, Fraser, Buckley, Scotland, Burns all players who won't be there tonight. I reckon Adelaide will give their forward lines more opportunities to kick a winning score with the King looming large.

DEES - The Demons are a hard team to put away. The Kangas don't have the Cattle. Hale and Porter won't stack up against Jeff White and Neitz and Robertson will hit back. Also, Melbourne won't give up unlike Port last week.

FREO - A toughie but I've been burnt by the Lie ins too many times in the west. Brisbane look a little light on for big men in this match and I don't like to tip against em but it's Freo for mine in this one.

RICHMOND - Port have too many out. Richmond are always a better side with not just Richo firing but other talls such as Stafford, Ottens and now Hall. If Richmond can outmark their opposition they usually win and they'll do it this week.

SYDNEY - Sheesh another toughie. The Hawks spoilt my perfect record last week and I've been foolishly backing the Swans all year. But surely they can find something, they are not as bad as their recent results suggest and the Hawks, despite their win, weren't all that impressive against a team that looked lost two plane trips away from home.

CAAARRRLTON - I am amazed so many are rating the Dogs in this match. The Bulldogs are the worst team in the comp and are STILL relying on West, Darcy, Johnson, Smith and Grant which admittedly is a fair group but the support act is rank and the stars are ageing. Carlton have looked much better at home this year and I expect them to take the points. Look out for a big match from Fevola. If he fires you can forget the Dogs.

ESSENDON - Heart says Cats but head says Bombers. Very tempting to select the Cats with no James Hird in the side but Geelong are still fading in and out of matches even though we are kicking more goals and starting to win a few. I reckon we'll go close but I reckon Essendon will attempt to rough up the Cats..and it might work. Any lapse against a confident Essendon will be punished and we will try to run them off their feet but the Melbourne game saw us give up a big lead which is a worry. Essendon - Just.

SAINTS - Egirls are crap but Chick is back and I reckon he adds a bit of much needed toughness to the side. As long as the Saints keep fronting up at the Domeass then they will keep winning. Lucy has tipped the Egirls so it's all over for them this week.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"head says Bombers".

We're gone.

chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 21 May 2004 03:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't worry Susso. Your mates in Orange won't let you down. We got slaughtered by the maggots last week and I expect it to happen again.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 21 May 2004 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I reckon Essendon will attempt to rough up the Cats

The Johnson's and Solomom in the middle to start the game. It will be good viewing if it happens.:-)

Your mates in Orange won't let you down.
It's either bouquet's or brickbats at the moment, so you may be lucky.

chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 21 May 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

"Expect Ed to talk up a "brave effort" from the Magpies"

BB that would be "brave and courageous". Any other team is not good enough, lacking, not come to play etc etc.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 21 May 2004 04:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Wanganeen is out.

from abc.net.au

More injury misery for Wanganeen
Port Adelaide's Gavin Wanganeen has been ruled out of Saturday night's game against Richmond at Football Park after doctors examined his back injury this morning.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 21 May 2004 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Hardly a surprise Gorilla Girl. Wanganeen was never going to play this week. Notice how JSA has vanished into the air like a fart in the wind? Typical front running barnacles supporter...

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 21 May 2004 04:53 (twenty-two years ago)

LOL @ REB.

This Pie suffers thru thick and thin...

Bennö (Bennö), Friday, 21 May 2004 05:03 (twenty-two years ago)

"Get ready to sweat, the Catters are coming for you and we know how your old farts play against a side that runs and likes to bounce the ball...." REB

"Notice how JSA has vanished into the air like a fart in the wind?" REB

There seems to be an awful lot of 'wind about'.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 21 May 2004 05:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Or is it a wind up. So where have you bean, don't you like my half baked jokes. They're a gas....

regards,

REB

ps - going even sillier now, it's nearly drinkin time in Adelaide...

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Friday, 21 May 2004 06:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Fri 21 May
TD* Collingwood v Adelaide - Adelaide - surely the little bit of talent they have will get the over the line.
Sat 22 May
MCG Melbourne v Kangaroos - Kangaroos looked the goods last week, but this one should be a lot closer.
Sub Fremantle v Bris Lions - Fremantle did them last year over there but can't see it happening again. Brissy in a close one.
FP* Port Adelaide v Richmond - Port to absolutely flog the tiggas and bring them back to earth
TD* Geelong v Essendon - Geelong to continue their good recent form and stop Essendons run at 6.
Sun 23 May
SCG Sydney v Hawthorn - Who else, Hawthorn to do it again up there.
OO Carlton v W Bulldogs - Bulldogs would win if they could kick straight. Carlton by about 2 goals
TD St Kilda v West Coast - St Kilda to win, but after a bit of scare.

Hawka (hawka), Friday, 21 May 2004 06:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Collingwood vs Adelaide: Adelaide – have done my one tip for the year on a Collingwood win, against Carlton. Back to first principles, never tip Collingwood.

Melbourne vs Kangaroos: Melbourne at the MCG

Fremantle vs Brisbane: Brisbane, maybe Pavlich won't turn up. There must be something else on in Perth Saturday arvo.

Geelong vs Essendon: Geelong, no Hird, Geelong might be too quick for them

Port Adelaide vs Richmond: Port Adelaide, it’s inconceivable that Matthew Richardson can play three games in a row.

Sydney vs Hawthorn: Sydney at home.

Carlton vs W. Bulldogs: Carlton, that was the last quarter they tried to take Brisbane last week, Footscray will be worn out by then.

St Kilda vs West Coast: St Kilda, can’t tip against them.

deelion (deelion), Friday, 21 May 2004 08:07 (twenty-two years ago)

<>

They don't still have that "bonafide traveller" rule in Cowland do they REB?

Remember I called into a pub at Penong on the Nullabor in the 60's and had to show my Driver's License to prove I had travelled more than xx miles in order to buy a beer after 6pm.

You can drink till at least 10pm in WA if you want a frothy.

Westener (Westener), Friday, 21 May 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

REB picking the tigers?? are u possibly the worst judge in Australia??

jsa, Sunday, 23 May 2004 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Bugger!

Oh Well Go The Lions!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 23 May 2004 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

See 3 out of 8. Confidence will work ever time to help you over come that hump between ability and performance.

Who's playing next week ???

Humbled Bird

Big Bird (Big Bird), Sunday, 23 May 2004 22:45 (twenty-two years ago)

How the hell did I tip 6 on here, and 4 in my work tipping comp. I have no brain...

Here is one for you. Fraser, Burns, Lockyer all back in the next week or two, and Bucks in 3. Checking the draw, Pies half a chance of going 7-8 coming into the rematch against the Li-ins at the G. Hmmmmm. I'll take a little of teh 50-1 for the premiership!

(ok, hideous one eyedness and desperate hope described the previous passage...)

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 24 May 2004 01:28 (twenty-two years ago)

"(ok, hideous one eyedness and desperate hope described the previous passage...) "

Careful Benno you're starting to sound normal! lol

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 24 May 2004 02:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Nah, the up and down Roos this weekend, West Coast in Melb, Melbourne on Queens birthday (their bubble is due to burst!) and the Swans at Sydney. Tough run, but one where a near full strength team could win most if not all of these games...

The season ain't over - I'm waiting for Sportodds to reframe the market for the 8!

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 24 May 2004 03:19 (twenty-two years ago)

In other words, you'll beat Melbourne because they win too often, you'll beat the Eagles because they don't win often enough, and you'll beat the Roos because they only win half the time.

One-eyed? Who could dare suggest....

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 24 May 2004 03:32 (twenty-two years ago)

We'll beat Melbourne as a Pies victory is tradition, we'll beat the E-Girls because its in Victoria and thy have more injuries than us, and we'll beat the Roos as the team will be boosted by the return of 3 of the Clubs best...

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 24 May 2004 03:40 (twenty-two years ago)

bennom, did u watch the same game as the rest of us on friday night???

jsa, Monday, 24 May 2004 03:50 (twenty-two years ago)

only listened to it courtesy of your ABC, but was proud of the 31 point comeback in a low scoring game. Adelaide were awful, but I believe a few of the Pies kids are coming along well - Swan, Richards.

I have a little bit of faith!

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 24 May 2004 05:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Swan's already well on the way to lasting longer than the beer of the same name.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 24 May 2004 06:11 (twenty-two years ago)

"REB picking the tigers?? are u possibly the worst judge in Australia??"

LOL@myself Jase! You might be right :)

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Monday, 24 May 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Benno, the D's bubble burst at Cat Park the other week. It probably won't burst again until they play the Saints LOL.

REB
