MELB - But expect a huge fright. Off beat prediction: before five minutes have gone in the first quarter, Ignoramus Rex will have nicknamed new Demon Sylvia, or at the very least made some assinine reference to his mother and Dr Hook
FREO - The missing faces in the Brisbane team must start having an impact sometime
ESS - Just to annoy REB and suck up to Chrisso
PORT - Can Bitcho string together three good'uns in a row? Not in this universe
SYDNEY - For just about the last time if they don't salute on Sunday
CARLTON - Both teams can look good losing but Carlton are steadier when victory threatens ST KILDA - Barring a surprise retirement announcement from Cousins or Wirrapunda
― Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 21 May 2004 00:12 (twenty-two years ago)
Adelaide - 'cause none of us are free to play for Collingwood tonight!Kangaroos - don't know why but everyone else seems to be tipping Melbourne.Brisbane - I reckon we'll fight back, don't discount the talent of the rest of the team, I believe we've proven many times we are not a one man teamPort Adelaide -- Because Richardson plays for Richmond and I don't like himEssendon - CATS playing really well but I think this will be a 'big' game and Essendon have more experience in thoseHawthorn - Goodes wont play and not sure if Sydney know how to lift and fight backBulldogs - they are ready for a win and have had some goal practiseWest Coast - Upset
There you go REB now you know who you're backing!

Adelaide - surely talent will over come the "backs to the wall" war cry from the Pie's. Expect Ed to talk up a "brave effort" from the Magpies
Kangaroos - Have had the wood on the D's in recent years and must bring something from a HUGH win last week-end
Freo - Lions on the road for the third game in four and second visit to Perth in a month, Keating looked very under-done on the weekend, Bradshaw and Pike in key forward roles etc. etc.
Port - out to prove a thing or two to their supporters and the rest of the League
Essendon - Seagulls on the improve in a big way but not up to the Bombers just yet
Hawthorn - Spider has been Hawks best player all year by a street and Sydney cannot cover him in anyway, especially if/when he goes forward
Carlton - played some good footy in Q4 last week to prevent a cricket score, few more older and harder heads then 'Doggies
St Kilda - to many forward marking options for the Eagles and it don't rain at the Dome (future note, it does rain and blow a bit at the MCG, where they do still play big finals matches)
So there is 8/8, what's so hard about that people
― Big Bird (Big Bird), Friday, 21 May 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)
Big Bird, for me, this equates to a jinx.
Collingwood - because it's in Melbourne.Dees - they have something to prove, if they lose this one the term 'flash in the pan' will be bandied.Lions - Freo are imposters.Port - depends on Richo, if he has a day out....tend to agree with Fred though.Sydney - they have to many good players to keep losingCarlton - the close one.Saints - no Jacko, no West Coast.:-)
― chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 21 May 2004 02:25 (twenty-two years ago)
DEES - The Demons are a hard team to put away. The Kangas don't have the Cattle. Hale and Porter won't stack up against Jeff White and Neitz and Robertson will hit back. Also, Melbourne won't give up unlike Port last week.
FREO - A toughie but I've been burnt by the Lie ins too many times in the west. Brisbane look a little light on for big men in this match and I don't like to tip against em but it's Freo for mine in this one.
RICHMOND - Port have too many out. Richmond are always a better side with not just Richo firing but other talls such as Stafford, Ottens and now Hall. If Richmond can outmark their opposition they usually win and they'll do it this week.
SYDNEY - Sheesh another toughie. The Hawks spoilt my perfect record last week and I've been foolishly backing the Swans all year. But surely they can find something, they are not as bad as their recent results suggest and the Hawks, despite their win, weren't all that impressive against a team that looked lost two plane trips away from home.
CAAARRRLTON - I am amazed so many are rating the Dogs in this match. The Bulldogs are the worst team in the comp and are STILL relying on West, Darcy, Johnson, Smith and Grant which admittedly is a fair group but the support act is rank and the stars are ageing. Carlton have looked much better at home this year and I expect them to take the points. Look out for a big match from Fevola. If he fires you can forget the Dogs.
ESSENDON - Heart says Cats but head says Bombers. Very tempting to select the Cats with no James Hird in the side but Geelong are still fading in and out of matches even though we are kicking more goals and starting to win a few. I reckon we'll go close but I reckon Essendon will attempt to rough up the Cats..and it might work. Any lapse against a confident Essendon will be punished and we will try to run them off their feet but the Melbourne game saw us give up a big lead which is a worry. Essendon - Just.
SAINTS - Egirls are crap but Chick is back and I reckon he adds a bit of much needed toughness to the side. As long as the Saints keep fronting up at the Domeass then they will keep winning. Lucy has tipped the Egirls so it's all over for them this week.

The Johnson's and Solomom in the middle to start the game. It will be good viewing if it happens.:-)
Your mates in Orange won't let you down. It's either bouquet's or brickbats at the moment, so you may be lucky.
― chrisso (chrisso), Friday, 21 May 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)
BB that would be "brave and courageous". Any other team is not good enough, lacking, not come to play etc etc.

More injury misery for WanganeenPort Adelaide's Gavin Wanganeen has been ruled out of Saturday night's game against Richmond at Football Park after doctors examined his back injury this morning.

Melbourne vs Kangaroos: Melbourne at the MCG
Fremantle vs Brisbane: Brisbane, maybe Pavlich won't turn up. There must be something else on in Perth Saturday arvo.
Geelong vs Essendon: Geelong, no Hird, Geelong might be too quick for them
Port Adelaide vs Richmond: Port Adelaide, it’s inconceivable that Matthew Richardson can play three games in a row.
Sydney vs Hawthorn: Sydney at home.
Carlton vs W. Bulldogs: Carlton, that was the last quarter they tried to take Brisbane last week, Footscray will be worn out by then.
St Kilda vs West Coast: St Kilda, can’t tip against them.

They don't still have that "bonafide traveller" rule in Cowland do they REB?
Remember I called into a pub at Penong on the Nullabor in the 60's and had to show my Driver's License to prove I had travelled more than xx miles in order to buy a beer after 6pm.
You can drink till at least 10pm in WA if you want a frothy.

Here is one for you. Fraser, Burns, Lockyer all back in the next week or two, and Bucks in 3. Checking the draw, Pies half a chance of going 7-8 coming into the rematch against the Li-ins at the G. Hmmmmm. I'll take a little of teh 50-1 for the premiership!
(ok, hideous one eyedness and desperate hope described the previous passage...)
