The moment that turned the match...

Pies on top at half time, a 30 point lead, some hard work from Licuria and Scott Burns sees Leon Davis run into an open goal - instead of straightening up and kicking the goal, he tries a mug lair cross the body kick, which sails harmlessly out on the full. From the kick in, the D's goal, and take command of the game...

For the previous quarter and a half, the Pies had worked tirelessly on the ground, and put the body on the line. This was the first sign of showmanship, and as far as I'm concerned, it was the shot that turned the game.

Bugger...

I thought the match turned at the end of the third quarter when there was 90 seconds left on the clock, Collingwood had the ball on the half-back line, with a 16 point lead, and they started winding down the clock instead of trying to kick a goal. It must have given the Dees a lift to see that and I bet Daniher mentioned it at 3/4 time. I

Tony Shaw is having a go at the football department and Neil Balme is accusing Shaw of doing a Dougie Hawkins. They're starting to turn on their own.......:-)

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 14 June 2004 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Fair call there Chrisso, but momentum was already going the D's way at that stage, and teh Pies were going to the non-scoring end...

Tony Shaw is a goose. So is Doug Hawkins. They really deserve each other.

It was a brave effort by collingwood, but ultimately is goodnight season, bloody shame that!! bwhahaahahha

I hardly call Tony Shaw's comments on air yesterday as 'having a go at the football department'. I thought what he said was more than reasonable. Shaw did not go off the deep end at all so I don't know what Balmey is going on about. All Tony Shaw said was that Reece Shaw and Collingwood might mutually benifit from a parting of ways. Calm down Shawy FFS you raving lunatic LOL.

It could just as easily have been seen as Uncle Tony giving his nephew a foot up the clacker and warning him he's on shaky ground, if the crayon boys had thought that was a better story.

Maybe they only ran it the way they did because Balme bit back and Ray Shaw didn't ('Bugger! We don't get to speculate about a Possible Family Feud!').

Getting a bit sick of these manufactured 'sensations' I must say. Just report on the bloody game you twats.
