One for Lucy

LL, I've just been over at the Bigfooty Forum and the site is abuzz with the "latest news from a reliable source"

To free up some Salary Cap by off loading some big names at Richmond, rumour has it that Richo will transfer to the Lions for Notting and another.

Will you still go to the footy at the Gabba?

No way! Sookie Bubba Richardson is not worth the muck of Tim Notting's boots. I'm sure Brisbane is not that stupid! It would be very very hard to even consider the possibility of that twit in my team!

Sorry Westie, but I can assure you from an even more "reliable source" that this will not happen. Tim is seen as part of the "next wave" at the Lions and will be a 25/26 year old 150 game vet. when the older members of the list start to go. This rumour is about two years too late.

I like this 'next wave' of Lions. Notting didn't get a sniff last Saturday and Power was thrashed. Long may it continue. How's the knee Vossy :)

REB

"How's the knee Vossy :)"

The answer .... "The knees good!"

Come to think of it the whole title of this thread is wrong.... cause it's Three for Lucy and One more to come....:D

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I've put that one away for later REB. eg Collingwood "thrashing" us all over the ground in a certain semi-final last year was the last one I put away.

So no room for Power of Notting, the "next wave" of Lions in the current Geelong outfit?

Big Bird (Big Bird), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe not Bird. We go all right in midfield, but we could probably find room for Jonathon Brown mind you. You can save my post in your archives if you like but the fact remains that neither Power or Notting were a factor at Geelong.

Power and Notting ARE talented footballers of course but I reckon I could get a kick most weeks alongside the fab four and some of the hard bodies in the Lions outfit. We'll know more about these two players when they become the heavy hitters that the Lie-Ins have to rely on week in week out to dominate, not just support the superstars (athough that is probably a bit hard on Power who has really stepped up this season).

Our young uns have done it the hard way, getting their shoulders crunched by Vossy or getting heavily tagged at age 19. Who bothers to tag a Notting or a Power when you've got Aker, Vossy, Lappin et al to worry about?

btw, Luce, I'm glad Vossy's knee is good, he looked mighty fine riding that bike on the sideline last week...even Voss can't get a kick when he's on that thing.

REB

Geez REB, talking of stepping up. You've had a good win and talk about changing your tune! But enjoy, your boys have done really well, but that doesn't make them a champion team! :D

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 01:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, a bit over the top I admit. Us Catters don't know how to handle success because we haven't had any!

FWIW, I thought we DID look like a champion team playing against a team of champions last week. The main strength of Geelong at the mo is that we aren't the one man show we were ten years ago. The Cats of today are neddy no-names who back each other up. Cameron Ling gets his 20 plus possies every week and you don't even seem to notice him.

No doubt the reality check awaits and it could be this week against West Coast because we have been pretty ordinary interstate in recent seasons to say the least.

I still reckon the Lie-Ins are the team to beat and I reckon Port might just grab it's first Grand Final berth this season but for now I am just enjoying the ride.

REB

The reality check may come this weekend unfortunately for your boys - a couple of good wins would do wonders for their confidence. All I can suggest, cause I think West Coast will bounce back next week, take your surfboards and head down to Margaret River, take in the vineyards, drink lots of good wine, eat lots of fresh beautiful seafood and surf. Failing that, head across to Rottnest and just zonk out - cold and rainy it may be but still lovely.

Na. I'm like Collingwood, I don't travel!

REB I'm surprised you have such a low opinion of yourself!
