Serious pain in the neck

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:10 (twenty-two years ago)

More importantly Alastair Lynch is a chance of returning next week against Richmond - he's training again - Yahoo!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Richmond get all the luck LOL. Smart move by Lynch. He won't get a softer reintroduction to league footy.

Fantastic trade by the crows, gave up the chance to recruit daniel well for an ageing hasbeen who cant lift his arms above his head, bwhahahaha the crows, maybe its time ronnie gave it away.

The King was a champ, and the best footballer I have had the pleasure of seeing live.

He could do anything, and loved a Friday night or a big stage.

Shame the last couple of years of his career were tarnished with off and on field disappointment.

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 23:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"maybe its time ronnie gave it away" then Ethelton would lose it's last half decent player hee hee.

Seriously tho, what clangers the Cows have made.

1. Pay shitloads for a reactionary coach that started off with a grand final side and finished up with a nine game losing streak at his previous club. You walked for dollars Gary and only repeated your earlier mistakes.

2. Draft useless gits like Evan Hewitt, Ryan Fitzgerald and Ian Downsborough while the talent was scooped up by Rival clubs.

3. Fail in the finals and the next year think that a one-sided one dimensional player, a champion well past his best, a St Kilda reject and an honest battler would get them a flag, thus missing out on yet more young talent.

4. Come up with the second most stupid line for the season 'We have the list to be a top-four side' and actually fool themselves into believing it.

5. Giving the coach the arse the day after sending off Nigel Smart with a big win that finally gave the club some sunshine in it's bleakest winter.

6. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic but John Reid still remains. Nothing like having that winning South Adelaide culture on board for the 'team for all South Australians' (yet more Cow shit).

All I can say is that the club is finally getting the results it deserves. With all of it's facilities and it's finances and massive support base it has to be said that the lunatics are running the asylum and that they couldn't organise a fart in a German beer hall.

"Shame the last couple of years of his career were tarnished with off and on field disappointment. "

Yeah makes me wonder which he'll be remembered for in 10 years time.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 24 June 2004 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I think he will be remembered for being the second best player of the 90's, after Ablett. His finals record is as good as anyones and that is always a good indicator of a players worth. It's a real shame that his morals were in the toilet as it has taken a little bit of the gloss of one of footballs great careers.

'It's a real shame that his morals were in the toilet as it has taken a little bit of the gloss of one of footballs great careers.'

Likewise Ablett. And at least nobody's ever died as a result of any action or inaction of Carey's.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 24 June 2004 01:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Will rightly be listed as one of the greats. In his prime his dominance of his part of the field and his ability to get to and get the ball was amazing to watch.

He deserves a chance to get a send off from the footy public, and I'm sure the Crows will do something accordingly. If that sort of offer was to come from the Kangaroos it could be part of the healing.

I'm not sure he gained much from his time in footy after The Birthday Party incident but that's just me.

Release the Bats - (the best BP song ever)

"Release the Bats - (the best BP song ever) "

Is this one of your compositions BB? Never heard of it!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 24 June 2004 01:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Showing my age Lucy. I would frequent venues that had bands like the Birthday Party on their lists. Nick Cave and the boys, aahhh what ever happened to the early 'Eighties - I think I was there, just.

Big Bird (Big Bird), Thursday, 24 June 2004 02:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Those early 80's followed on from the 70's now that was great music

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 24 June 2004 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Big Bird (Big Bird), Thursday, 24 June 2004 03:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't mind Nick Cave and if I was 20 years younger I'd most likely be right into him, but the thing I appreciate him for most is the laughs I got from all the anguished 'he's-sold-out-how-dare-he!' outrage from the Brunswick Street set when he did the Kylie album.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 24 June 2004 03:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I can understand that Fred, of course the black lipstick brigade had a much better chance of getting that Gothic white tan in Melbourne then they did in Brisbane. But that did not stop them from trying, but yes lots of black eye liner went running across faces when Nick and our Kylie got together.

Big Bird (Big Bird), Thursday, 24 June 2004 04:14 (twenty-two years ago)

"im not picturing u that old lucy -)"

I'll take that as a compliment but am dubious it was meant that way!

lol

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 24 June 2004 05:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Carey gets the bum's rush from North for necking.

Ironically a couple of years later he has to retire because of a sore neck.
