...no need for the eggs waiter, I've got a couple of em on my face after having the extreme bad manners to write off the mighty Lions prior to this week's Brisbane v St Kilda match in my ill advised 'It's Over' thread DOH.

Perhaps it was just a case of wishful thinking but for me Round 21 brought back uneasy memories of 2003 with an ineffectual Geelong and an unbeatable Brisbane. Let's hope 2004 resumes next week!

It is not the result that has me worried but the manner in which Brisbane systematically dismembered a side that looked like a million dollars last week. Sigh.

regards,

REB

PS- Never mind thanking Richmond, I say thank you Carlton :)

All is not lost REB.

Maybe you could just say that you really meant "It's over, Bombers"

Chrisso would be bound to bite. It must pain him that the two sides that don't rate are keeping his Bombers out of the eight

"ROOS - Dogs have lost the lot and will be lucky to keep the margin in double figures"

By my very dodgy maths, whichever complete clown made that pontification was about 130 points out. Egg? Try the whole bleedin' chookyard! AND the same goose made the same mistake re St Kilda, AND crapped himself needlessly at the prospect of his team tangling with opposition that has achieved the ranking of 'mediocre' in the better weeks among its last five.

Don't forget the little toast fingers for the ears REB.

Just back from the Gabbattoir, that was one hard game. Some of the tackles and hits could be felt in the back of the stands. That was the most pleasing thing for me, the Lions attack on the ball was fantastic, and the Saints weren't that far behind either.

Now to watch the replay on the video. Where is that remote?

Westerner, the ultimate fair weather supporter.Lol.

I watched the video last night of the Lions game. Was it just me or did Michael Roberts say 600 to 700 times, "the Saints are really in trouble here. The Saints are really suffering in the heat". Two guys went to the room just before half time to get treatment on injuries and he would have you believe that they would be taken to hospital and relatives would be contacted.

He seemed to be making excuses before the ball was bounced. Maybe he represents old St Kilda - footy just getting in the way of nightclubbing.

BB haven't finished watching the replay, but they (the commentators etc) always referring to how hard it is for clubs to play up here because of the heat and because they are not used to playing in the heat. Well what about the fact we are not used to playing in freezing wet conditions!

Jeez, LL, what are ya? A fair weather supporter?

Westener (Westener), Monday, 23 August 2004 11:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Ho Ho Westener. Just sick of all the "well they did have to cope with that heat up there" crap that seems to come out of every commentators mouth.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 23 August 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

LOL. It's hardly carp Gorilla Girl. The heat is as much a part of your home ground advantage as freezing conditions and wind are a part of ours. Open the other eye girl.

You've missed my point REB that is what I'm trying to express. Home Ground Advantage goes both ways - we put up with the freezing conditions, you put up with the heat!

So you see REB both eyes are open and working 20:20

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 02:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I hope Geelong never gets a domestic air terminal or we'll be down to seven wins a year :P

The heat of the GabbaToir is a far bigger home ground advantage than playing at Colonial...

The G has some elements, but its easier playing in the cold than in balmy conditions if used to the opposite...

Rather a generalisation isn't it Benno? What you don't just want all the finals played in Melbourne but every game, every week? Good idea and you could call it the Victorian Football League and then slowly get rid of all the teams that don't come from Victoria, reinstate North Melbourne, South Melbourne, Footscray, Fitzroy, everyone resurrect your original jumper (sorry REB!)and then you could stop conversing with us as well!

Sad loss I'd say I enjoy your one-eyed view- it matches mine! :D

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 04:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Lucy SSSHHHHHhhhhhhh. Say after me loud and clear.

Yes, yes, it was the heat (25C and 70% humidity). The heat was the difference, the heat is very very important at the 'ttoir. Beware the heat when you go to Brisbane, it will get you every time. What are other teams going to do about the terrible weather conditions in Brisbane? Visiting team must work out ways to beat the heat/humidity in Brisbane!!!!

Big Bird (Big Bird), Tuesday, 24 August 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Very true BB, If they concentrate on the heat they'll forget to look at how good the team is!
