Great Career Anthony

Can't help thinking that of all the people involved in the farce that was Careygate this bloke has come out of it his reputation enhanced.

He got a great send off by Lions players and staff and a standing ovation from the crowd, very good to see that happen in what is the AFL industry.

A fantastic career, by a top-class footballer and a top-class bloke.

And it is with embarrassment that I admit that after 290 games I looked at the thread title and for a moment thought, 'Anthony who?' Not that he'd mind. I'd like to see him stay involved in the game, but the attendant crap that would go with it is the last thing he deserves.

Will Michael shift his gear two lockers up the wall next season? He showed some very positive signs in the gamnes I saw him.

A shame for the Roos - its blokes like Stevo and Arch that have been the life blood of the Roos since the Carey debacle...

Once the experience of Arch, Corey, Big Savaloy, Leigh Colbert and Shagga Grant is gone, where is the next leader?

I can tell you who'll captain that side in 2010 (Daniel Wells) but getting there could be a problem. Maybe Dan Harris or Drew Petrie? Or (prob favorite) Troy Makepeace?

Agree BB it was nice to see the Lions line up and give him an ovation as he was carried off the Gabba. There were some nice interchanges during the game also, a pat on the back to and from various players on both sides, help up from Stevens to Lions players and vice versa after a contest for the ball. I'd say their is an awful lot of respect between players for this man.

Well done on a career or professionalism.

Makepeace would probably be a favourite - a little hard nut that would not be afraid to lead from the front...

Wells will end up somewhere else - an extraordinary talent who will leave the Roos before his career is up

I agree with you Benno, the way Makepeace goes about his footy is very impressive. They could do a lot worse than making him the captain. But they'll probably go to Corbett
