Farging disgrace.

I'll bet FN is proud that his board is read by those that count.
Just wait for the whinging to start in earnest now.

I hope he realises how bloody lucky he was, and I hope he's been told next time he does something that monumentally stupid he's on his own.

I reckon that Brown getting off will now cost the bookies big time. Brissie will be almost unbackable for their 4th
― Westener (Westener), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)
Browny is very lucky to get off, but should never have been cited for rough play in the first place - melee yes, huge fine yes.
Thanks to you Westener, happy for you to take the well deserved crredit for a stroke of brillliance. I would suggest Big Jon Brown will be thanking his gods and praying Andrew Andersen doesn't go ahead with the Appeal.

It the court case worth the Grand Final Win? Probably...
― Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 21:43 (twenty-one years ago)
If he had been charged correctly, justice would have been served, $10K fine for involvement in melee, wrestling and no opportunity for a paranoia editorial on the Footy Show. (Whose prepared to bet against Ed have some comment about "poor Jason" or "poor Anthony"?) Chrisso and Benno couldn't resist.
― Big Bird (Big Bird), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)
What do you mean by start? Heard a lot of whinging from up north before the tribunal.:-)
"So now its fine for the Lions PF opposition to all turn around and king hit their Lions opposite before the opening siren (hey the match isn't under way using this theory), and all you would have to worry about it the Civil Action..."
Who is the Lions coach?
― chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)
BB - Fyi, I haven't seen an AFL Footy show all year - I can't be bothered staying up until 1 or 2 in the morning to watch it. I can make decisions for myself...
I don't care who the player involved is, the bloke has a terrible record at the Tribunal, engaged in a choker hold after the siren, and should have been suspended for engaging in dangerous behaviour. If that is not attacking the head and neck of an opposition player, I don't know what is???

How long have you been a footy fan?
― chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 7 September 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)
Problem is none of the others were charged for similar actions before the siren went - same ole, same ole - Not frigging consistency!
― Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 8 September 2004 00:54 (twenty-one years ago)
Brown got off because the charge on the report was ambiguous in the opinion of the tribunal. Was justice served? No. Should he have been reported on another charge? Yes, as part of the melee and a large fine given, Christ fine him until his greyhounds howl as far as I'm concerned. He is not the first and he won't be the last bloke to have charges drop because a mistake was made in the reporting process.

Would have been happy for Browny to answer any charges if they'd all been cited but as he was the only one - rough !
Didn't someone raise the issue of Demetriou and Andersen being sent a "Please Explain from the AFL about questioning the 'Independent' Tribunal.....
― Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Saturday, 11 September 2004 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)
Ah: the dreaded 'Players Code', debased and exposed by chronic and negligent over-use, now officially irrelevant. Nobody would have given a toss what Blake or any other 'victim' said.
Which is a good development. In a few years time a player is going to say 'he didn't hit me' and possibly actually be believed.
