EXCERPTS FROM A LION DIARY

September 18

We came we saw we conquered. After being on the receiving end of a slight free kick imbalance early in the match, we proceeded to injure each other and kick as many points as possible. Guess what? Geelong fell for it! We’ll eat them alive next season.

September 20

Apparently a heap of tarts flashed a bit of leg down at the Crown casino tonight. We had our usual get together and Simon was as polite as usual and Acker cracked a few jokes. Nige is a bit pissed off but next year we are having to have a fab eight. Watch out!!

September 23

At training tonight we had a limping contest and all of a sudden we were surrounded by a gaggle of television cameras. Leigh Matthews was stirring the shit-pot again and predictably the Victorians were getting into a lather about the salary cap. I only wish the Vics would lather up a bit more often…you can smell some of those Collingwood players from a mile away.

September 25

Slept in. We love Melbourne at this time of year..all of those familiar faces..I wonder where all the Victorians went though? Apparently we will make history today, but then again, doesn’t every team do that when they win the grand final? It really sucks that we have to wait all these extra weeks for our Mad Monday. We will play our style of game and we know we can win.

Read it and weep,

Tomorrow I get on a flight to head off to the MCG to see my team play in the AFL Grand Final. Hopefully we will win, 'cause if we win no team has done that in many decades and the last time it did happen there were only 4 teams in the competition!

As for Malthouse sprouting off on Talking Footy about Collingwood members paying their $150 therefore were entitled to..... and Brisbane members paying their $150 wake up Mick my membership costs more than twice that!

Good on ya, Luce. The AFL should be proud of your four flags*.

*Denotes were heavily assisted by the AFL

Thanks Chrisso appreciate your sentiments.

No doubt you also pissed off with, Melbourne, the Kangaroos and the Western Bulldogs!

No doubt the Salary Cap Concessions will be gone over the next year or so if nt sooner then what will you excuse be?

Sorry but I'm sick of being pleasant today - you can all go jump!

"No doubt you also pissed off with, Melbourne, the Kangaroos and the Western Bulldogs!"

Why? They prove themselves to be somewhat competitive in a tough AFL with up to $3million less to spend on players? In a competition where salary cap and drafts are meant to keep things even, the club with the MOST money to spend by about 15% who have not had to release a top line player for years (Headland and Bolton were borderline players) are also the strongest with the most depth... No sh%t sherlock.

Bring Brisvegas back to the pack wtih $ to spend, and Luke Power, Tim Notting, Rob Copeland etc - the second stringers and probably one of the Fab 5 would have had to move on to another club...

See St Kildas list for next year - they have had one good year in a long time, and now they will have to lose Luke Ball and hope Hamill and G-Train take paycuts. Lucy, in your blind eyes this is just bad luck - to every other football follower, this is one club marching to a different beat to the rest of the competition.

"This whole mass-debate is turning into a yawn the size of a dozen MCGs."

LL stated .. "'cause if we win no team has done that in many decades and the last time it did happen there were only 4 teams in the competition!"

That's not quite right Lucy. There were 12 teams in the competition ('27-30). You must be talking about only 4 teams in the finals.

When does Lucy ever let facts get in the way?

Lucy is home again back from invading Victoria! I don't understand the Victorian mind (or lack of it!) They insist it's the home of football, they insist we have to play so many finals there, they demand the GF at the MCG(This one I agree with) but then when it doesn't all work they way they want it (ie NO VICTORIAN TEAM PLAYING) they spend the whole weekend complaining they are being invaded by foreigners! Strange strange people.

Met some very nice Port Power fans (even stranger!)and has been the case in previous years enjoyed they short stay but am now glad to be back in the sun.

Went to the Gabba yesterday to welcome home my team and thank them for another fantastic year of footy. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them do well again next year.
