Am I alone in thinking we've moved into overkill mode over Saturday, and now it's about time everybody (including Andy D and his merry men) had a Bex and a good lie down?

So, Fred, do you think it's O.K for every bloke who is retiring to go out swinging? They had to send a message that it won't be tolerated. Bye bye, Al.

Before Lynch, who was the last one? It's a scenario that halfwit shock jocks always throw out there, but how often has it actually happened? It's only the HWSJ's that hard-wire in the connection between Lynch retiring and Lynch going apeshit.

Lynch threw half a dozen haymakers and most of them would have struggled to land inside the MCG. A St Kilda bloke called Jim O'Dea in the 70s put a Collingwood bloke in a coma for three weeks. Both got the same whack.

If Lynch gets ten, proportionately Brown would be looking at a season. But that won't happen. Andy's got his big fish now. You've lucked in again, Jono. You'll be playing before the Ashes squad gets to England.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

You've lucked in again, Jono.

Yes, it's rather ironic that Brown will get 6 weeks in a game he shouldn't have been playing in. Karma and all that.

chrisso (chrisso), Thursday, 30 September 2004 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I am absolutely furious. I understand Lynch getting a huge fine and albeit ridicules suspension, and Jonathan Brown will get a hefty suspension (a deserves it!) But why Simon Black gets three weeks for supposed strikes that wouldn'tt have knocked me over let alone Hardwick and Crones I will never know. The mad Greek and his cohorts will do absolutely anything to take this club while supposedly promoting it here in the North. Simon Black has a clean record and does not deserve a three week suspension.

The Tribunal ends the season as its starts - WITH NO F******* CONSISTENCY AND TOTALLY CRAP DECISIONS.

If they want to send me a fine for bringing the game into disrepute they can find me...... total tossers!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ease up Lucy, black got hardwick (a ball player ) with a coathanger and got what he deserved. Your mob has been dishing it out for years and getting away with it, remember lynch on the sharlene wakelin.

As for brown, well their little trick at the tribunal meant he played against geelong and got injured, had he been suspended for 1 he would have been fit for the grand final, the grub got his just deserts, hope he get at least 8 more.

jsa, Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Bulls*** jsa, Simon Black does not deserve three weeks for hitting someone with his bicep. Clean record. If anything one week would have been too many.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't think Black deserved anything, but what about AcnemAnus biting Burgoynes hand???

Bennö (Bennö), Thursday, 30 September 2004 23:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently after looking at it they didn't report it! Mind you on passed performance Aker would be more likely to talk his finger off then bite it! lol

And if the reporting officers are being hard because it's GF time then why was Wakelin not reported for kneeing Simon Black in the head when he was on the ground! Gives me the S****

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Friday, 1 October 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Lucy it was a swinging arm and all year (apart from a lynch) they have copped a couple of weeks, plus they pinged for another strike, so all in all 3 is fair to me.

As for acker, he's better of playing for the lions and causing all the internal disharmony. Has there been a player so hated by his own?

And if you report wakelin, i counted 10 times those scott bros could have been reported with there forearm pushes to the face, pity they couldnt stop the 7 goals kicked on them bwhahahaha

Crones???

May or may not have been an accident when you typed it Lucy, but when I next use it it won't be. That was a ripper, the typo of the year.

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Friday, 1 October 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Definite typo, but now that I think about it, anyone who doubles over and claims to be winded from a blow like that is a wooss. With his wrist cocked the way it was Black would have broken it before he did any damage to 'Crones'.

I hope they appeal.

I didn't think Black deserved anything, but what about AcnemAnus biting Burgoynes hand???

Here comes the Western Elephant.

What was Burgoyne doing with his hand near Acker's mouth?

Does anyone remember Todd Viney? Thought not.

Chris Lewis got pinged for 5 weeks for biting that low life and the question was asked as to why Viney had his fingers clawing Lewis' face in order for Lewis to bite him. Valid question, I thought.

But the really funny conclusion to this snippet of history is that Viney was picked in Melbourne's Team of the Century and was obviously picked as a result of running up to the umpire with his finger held up and completely distraught. Terrific drama.

For every winner in the race of life, there are hundreds of losers. Obviously Viner was one of them.

'If Lynch gets ten, proportionately Brown would be looking at a season. But that won't happen. Andy's got his big fish now. You've lucked in again, Jono. You'll be playing before the Ashes squad gets to England.'

Just call me Nostradamus. (Or 'Nostrils' for short.)

Last week we saw a nice juicy 72-font-headline 'get-tough' gesture towards a player that won't play anyway, and is therefore pretty bloody meaningless. Black gets three in the crossfire (hey, gotta be consistent), and this week Brown gets slapped again with a piece of wet spaghetti. By round 6 both will be back.

Good to see Al won't be sitting on the couch getting fat in his retirement. He has been set a rigorous program of can-carrying. I'm amazed I'm onto this before chrisso.

Sorry, been busy.
