Does this mean that Channel 7/10 could offer Friday night footy to Sydney and Brisbane as part of a joint bid.

PS: Good to be back !!!

Seven joins Ten in AFL bid
By Rachel Kleinman
March 16, 2005

Channel Seven is joining forces with Channel Ten to try to snatch the rights to screen AFL matches.

The two channels will team up to bid for TV rights when the AFL's existing $450 million deal with Channel Nine, Channel Ten and Foxtel expires at the end of the 2006 football season.

Seven holds the right to bid last for the next round of free-to-air broadcast rights - although not the pay TV rights.

A Channel Ten spokeswoman said: "We have an agreement with the Seven network to jointly bid for the next AFL rights.

"We will not be making any further comment."

As is my want for reliving past glories. I watched the 1992 Grand Final last weekend(just post your address REB and I'll make you a copy including ads for John Deere Tractors), and I have to ask the question.

Ch 9 and 10 are'nt real flash with their coverage, but can we really afford to listen to Sandy Roberts again for 3 or 4 seasons?

As a Commentator, the man's a dill.

Couldn't possibly be worse than Maguire commentating a Pie match. That is reason enough - for me - to hope that 7 gets the rights. The smug prick is starting to make me sick.

Hallelujah!! So glad it's not justme or a Brisbane Lions thing!

Have been watching Fox Footy today (off work) they are replaying Round 4 of the 2004 Season, Lions v Pies at the Gabba - remember the "..goal umpire from hell" game. We win but I've had to stop watching it's just making me angry. You get no commentary of the game just dribble from both McGuire and Brereton. Bring on Sandy Roberts I say he couldn't possibly be worse.

Maybe Eddie is on his way out! There was a piece in the Courier Mail earlier this week, saying his ratings on "Millionaire" are down, we all know his team seem to be going to injury woes and probably not going to perform too well this year (hope!). Are we witnessing the end of a crappy era? Yes Please!

Watching Collingwood games Eddie calls gives me the sh*ts...

For me, having to watch free to air out of Brisbane, Channel 10 have been great, no complaints at all, Quartermaine, Walls, SOS all OK. Hudson wears a bit thin after a while.

Huddo doesn't seem to be part of the Fox Footy team this season - anyone know what's happened to him?

BB I have always preferred to listen to NIRS commentary with the free-to-air piccies. They actually call the footy.

Maybe Eddie is suffering from over-exposure. It's a Michael Jackson thing. Let him be and he will fade.

I implore you, go back to a game that Sandy Roberts commentated. Have a listen. Please, please never again.

He is a dill!!!!

I implore you, go back to a game that Sandy Roberts commentate

It aint hard with all the replays that FoxFooty have been showing over the summer months. Nearly over.:-)

Although I must say that I have enjoyed watching the Winners with Flares programs, some great stuff from the early 80's.

Very rare to see a Bears game unfortunately.
