Time for some Burl Ives music.

"It's Just My Funny Way of Laughing"

Westener (Westener), Sunday, 29 May 2005 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

A fantastic weekend of football for the WA sides. The Eagles pumped the former Power and Freo somehow managed to conjure up a winning forumula at a venue that had them totally befuddled for 10 years.

I'll bet Chris Connolly would be scratching his head every match day trying to figure out which Fremantle had turned up to play on the day. Freo's pressure was excellent throughout the day forcing the usually skilled Cats into countless errors...at least I lost count anyway. Still, you can take some heart away from a lop-sided free kick count, an error fest and bad kicking that ends up in a nine point defeat to a side that outplayed you all day...but what do you take out of a 117 point loss when you were 70 down at lemon time Jase...er....Jase?

There's always next week, for the Cats at least. Well done Freo.

regards,

REB

REB

we take nothing absolute rubbish performance, soft pittiful disgusting and f..king piss weak, a 17 yr old gets bowled over and noone comes to his aid, very un-port like.

The only positive is percentage doesnt matter and that was an away game.

I noticed that the first talk of premiership favoritism at geelong let to a crumble

jsa, Sunday, 29 May 2005 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah I noticed that no one flew the flag for Eckerman. Imagine that happening in Grave Dangers day? No way.

As for the Cats, a little unkind there Jase. Freo played bloody well, we were totally crap and lost by only nine.

REB

agreed REB,

As for the cats, trying to offload some shame but its not working

jsa, Monday, 30 May 2005 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Percentage might yet matter to the Cleti a hell of a lot Jase....even if no other teams tie this year.

REB I'm looking forward to the 1992 replay of the GF - question is will it be the same result!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 30 May 2005 06:45 (twenty-one years ago)

We've got to make the finals yet Lucy. Every team that has gotten ahead of itself this year has fallen to terra firma with an almighty thud. Even Hawthorn may have been guilty of this last week. We need second spot so no more losses at home please Catters!

REB

who did geelong lose to in 1992???

jsa, Tuesday, 31 May 2005 00:59 (twenty-one years ago)

West Coast Jase. We were five goals up in the second quarter as well. Blight left Bairstow on Matera and 'Roo' cleaned us up with his pace and his deadly goalkicking. I remember Ablett missing what would have been a steadying goal early in the third as clear as it was yesterday. Us tortured Cat fans have memories like Elephants when it comes to Grand finals.

Malcolm Blight said a couple of years later that by losing from the position we were in could have paved the way for the two absolute blowouts of 94 and 95. But to me 1993 was also a kick in the guts. We were 12-8 at the end of the minor round and had just beaten the entire top six in the last eight weeks of the year to miss the finals by percentage. Five years later 5th ranked Adelaide got creamed by Melbourne at the start of the finals but recovered to win the bloody flag. Crap!

REB

Yes i know REB i happened to be there that day, barracking for geelong, and watched matera run rings around bairstow.

And yes both crows premierships were based under the old system where they would have been eliminated in round 1 of the finals, and life qwould be much better here if they were taken off them in retrospect.

Was 1993 the year they needed collingwood to beat the crows in the last round?? after beating WC at home?

That's the one big fella.

The Return of the Thin White Pope (Tom D.), Saturday, 23 January 2016 12:13 (ten years ago)

Martin died, in either Valdonzella or Barcelona in 1410, reportedly due to indigestion and uncontrollable laughter.[4][5] According to tradition, Martin was suffering from indigestion on account of eating an entire goose when his favorite jester, Borra, entered the king's bedroom.[5] When Martin asked Borra where the jester had been, the jester replied with: "Out of the next vineyard, where I saw a young deer hanging by his tail from a tree, as if someone had so punished him for stealing figs."[5] This joke caused the king to die from laughter.[5]
