I almost just bought the DNA Cowboy Trilogy but at the last moment held off. Bad move? If so, what else by him's worth looking into?

I generally prefer his non-fiction. Give The Anarchist A Cigarette is terrific along with his columns for the LA City Pages.

He was my favourite rock journalist, but I love his SF too. Phaid The Gambler is my favourite, but the DNA Cowboys series is terrific too.
