I read 'berlin alexanderplatz'. really grim but i enjoyed it lots: is that what an episode of coronation street (english TV drama for those who don't know) is like?

so is there anything else by him that you've read.

also have you seen fassbinder's adaptation of this? (i think it was a one off TV movie and not a 'proper' movie but do correct me if i'm wrong).

It was a series of long TV episodes, totalling like 14 hours, with a crazy epilogue starring Rainer himself. Susan Sontag claims that, even though it was made for TV, it should only be seen in cinemas, the silly thing. 13 hours in a cinema? Day job? Haven't seen. Some ppl say it's his best work, especially the epilogue. RWF often used 'Franz Biberkopf' as a character name in his other films.

Susan Sontag says that about every film over 4 hours long.

Oh yeah, I never noticed that *even though* I used to use it on A N Other board. Not read. Ordered it once, but received a German edition, so back to the lab. I might buy it now.
