there is only 1 post left at "67.98.183.77" which i see has been banned.

i think i will make that "nuke the IP" system. like the "search by ip" but you get a list of posts against that IP made in the last N hours (say 8) all with a pre-ticked check box (so you can uncheck some if needed) and a nice big "DELETE CHECKED POSTS" button.

obv this will delete threads too, but i'll make them reinstatable by just moving them to board 0 - like i've been threatening to do

alternatively, here's an idle thought...

what about some sort of temporary IP injunction which for REG USERS would stop those messages displaying. sort of like the "ban lists" that ppl suggest from time to time, but tied to the very specific job of only filtering out unreg'd posts on certain IPs for a number of hours. it would instantly tidy up crap floods for the regular and REG'd users.

"edit" admin would be able to implement them, and then the nuke button could be tied in to a list of posts that fall under that ban.

it would work better than blocking posts from that IP - which is just troll bait - as to the unregistered eye all looks ok, but all the reg'd users have sent them to coventry

i haven't thort this fully through. i'm just turning options round in my head

Yeah, but then registered users (presumably including moderators) wouldn't see the spam, and couldn't let mods know it was there. Meanwhile all the unreg users see the increst pron links and njoi/suffr them.
