So are instructions being given to people on these ModReq threads? Because it seems like it's affecting some of us, but not all of us, given the fact that there continue to be responses. I obv. can't respond because every thread I open says "Unread point get failed" with no place to post or anything.

Mark Grout has sussed it. You need to go to your "settings" page and uncheck the "show number of unread messages" box.
