What's the difference between Pop and Rock if we take both as being subgenres of the genre Popular Music?

This was not intended as, and was not unfolding as, a boring Rockism vs Popism debate. I'm really pissed off that this has been locked with no explanation.

Look at the very bottom of the page, Nick. It's the rightmost hyperlink. Clicking on it leads to a page telling you what moderator actions have been made on that board, by who, and for what reason.
