I haven't even tried out the new forum.

Defend the Indefensible: Suicide -- I left off the end of an A HREF tag and it swallowed up another message. If someone wouldn't mind fixing it...

Also, what happened with the HTML checker?

Someone with access to the database may need to fix this.

I did that, but no database access needed (except to make me a mod again!)

difficult edits like this can be done by looking at the source, find the "msgid=4496687" bit in the later link of the post to edit and put that in the http://ilx.wh3rd.net/adminmsg.php?msgid=xxxxxx to edit the post

also i will look at fixing this sort of error in the HTML checker.

To answer the question, someone not so long ago took the decision to ban lots of tags, so the code had to be changed (I think Andrew may have done this). As the HTML checker that Graham left us with is the most impenetrable bit of the ILX code it was ripped out and replaced wholesale. I haven't had a chance to do anything with the code or databases since I got back in, but it's first on my list.

Any more? Who's for login only posting? I'm not, but I've not been bothered by the things that have bothered ppl calling for it. Poss cos Dan is doing a good job and I don't notice what with how often I look on here.

I'll email you tomorrow about this one Alan, just for the sake of not letting some of the cockfarmers know what workarounds to use to circumvent it.
I'm pretty certain the problem comes from some code I put in to improve upon what Andrew had done. We actually owe Sterling a big thanks for it. When last I checked we were still using Graham's validate routine.
To further Alan's suggestion of editting code, each board has a page called adminboard.php which can be reached from the top left of the new questions page. If you have the right authorization there is a field to type in the msgid number to get to editadmin page.
