Unread messages function is back (sort of)

I have sort of partially restored this functionality - you may already have noticed.

I was a bit worried that today's slow down on the server was because of what i'd done, but it appears not. (please?)

basically new answers still isn't ready to show red-numbers of unread count, but when you look at a thread, it does draw in the horizontal rule and the "Unread messages" heading.

Hope this works out ok

It's great! Can't wait for the return of the Red-Unread though.

it has just hit me that i could go further and mark threads in newanswers with "unread messages" even if the actual number is not given. i think that to most ppl (i know to me) just knowing there are unread is enough. exciting! will do this tonight

forget that - even that seems knackered. god knows why.

#unread at the end of URLs on the New Answers page sure would be sweet, though.

OTM ^

It could go at the end of all the questions on the New Answers page, even the ones that haven't been read yet, surely?

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 18 March 2005 23:36 (twenty-one years ago)

ok, this WILL happen. promise

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Saturday, 19 March 2005 15:13 (twenty-one years ago)

is done.

Yes, thank you, I've missed this!

OK, so this is small and might just affect me, but it might also be a quick change:

When you've got an RSS feed of, say, I Love Books, then each item in the feed is a thread, and each article is the lastest post to the thread. And the link to the thread links just to the thread, when it when it should perhaps either link to the last article or, what I think would be even more useful, to #unread.

I have no idea how many people use the RSS feeds, though. I do, and love them.
