Does anyone find the "marked as containing images" feature in thread lists useful?

When threads are listed (eg New Answers) some browsers will render the bullet point before it as a solid bullet or as a ring. A ring = the thread contains images.

Did you know that? Do you find it useful? Can we remove this feature

Reason i ask is that the act of marking the thread when the first picture is posted to it may contribute to the server slowing. I DO NOT KNOW THAT THIS IS THE CASE. it's just a suspicion. but it's a suspicion doubled with the suspicion that nobody knew about or cared about this feature (with a couple of notable exceptions, obv)

I like it, but if it's slowing down the server, I wouldn't miss it.

I wouldn't be sad to see it go. Though I wasn't aware it was causing issues. I thought it was a binary value in the thread table.

I "use" it in the sense that I have it set up to display this feature, but I've never actually "used" it in the sense that it's directed my ILX experience in any way. 99% of the time, I don't even notice it.

well i'm keeping an eye out. like i say it's just a suspicion - no proof as yet. it's just the fact that that posting that first image requires a simple replace in the thread table, and it's those pesky replaces (in this table locking world) that gum the place up. probably not a big deal compares to the replaces in admin'ing the message table, but it is an extra replace that we could do without, and just happens along the way.
