Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 24 February 2006 13:32 (twenty years ago)

According to R1ch J0hnst0n the mystery writing team is Geoff "Don't call me Sadface" Johns and Richard Donner. I suspect Pete Doherty and Kate Moss might actually have been a better choice.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 14:49 (twenty years ago)

Um, way to look into the future, DC, ALL THE WAY TO THE YEAR 1979!!!

Teri Hatcher and that guy she used to be in Radio Shack commercials with.

That would be NFL Hall of Fame linebacker HOWIE LONG.

c(''c) (Leee), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 17:59 (twenty years ago)

Yes. I keep forgetting whether it was Howie Long or that guy from the movie Firestorm.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 18:01 (twenty years ago)

...who is also Howie Long. Brian Bosworth is the other guy I was thinking of. Honest.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 18:02 (twenty years ago)

SUPERMAN VS. GIANT METALLO

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 18:27 (twenty years ago)

I always felt gipped by the demographic symmetry of those Radio Shack ads. Us boring white people had Hatcher and Long, who paled considerably next to Ving Rhames & Vanessa Williams and Alex "You are so busted!" Rodriguez & Daisy Fuentes.

ample parking (Garrett Martin), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 19:42 (twenty years ago)

four months pass...
In light of Superman Returns' misguided deference to the Donner films, and the introduction of Krytpon Krystals into the comics, it really, really seems likely that Donner's going to be THE GUY WRITING SUPERMAN (with Geoff Johns, no doubt).
It also seems really, really likely that this is not going to be good.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 15:31 (nineteen years ago)

Mark E. Smith & Morrissey!

Jessie the Monster (scarymonsterrr), Tuesday, 11 July 2006 16:31 (nineteen years ago)

one year passes...

James Robinson and misguided tribute covers by Alex Ross. Seriously, what the fuck is going on in that image? It's like EVERYTHING about it is wrong in a new and exciting way!

Also, Robinson's Superman better be a shitload better than his boring-ass Batman story 2 yrs ago.

Dr. Superman, Friday, 8 February 2008 21:32 (eighteen years ago)

My first thought was "OMG the RETURN OF GOODY RICKELS!"

Dr. Superman, Friday, 8 February 2008 21:32 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, I don't have a frickin' clue what's going on in that picture, but it's the first Alex Ross pic I can remember liking in a long time.

Also, is that Bibbo?

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 8 February 2008 21:34 (eighteen years ago)

Goody Rickels: OTM

energy flash gordon, Saturday, 9 February 2008 01:50 (eighteen years ago)

It looks like the cover of action comics 1 to me

http://www.crimelibrary.com/graphics/photos/notorious_murders/celebrity/george_reeves/Action-Comics-issue-1(200).jpg

it's got the car, the poles, the light source and the creepy man holding his own head. IE everything you could ask for!

Slumpman, Saturday, 9 February 2008 09:46 (eighteen years ago)

oh wait there are no poles in the action comics cover. but still it's a clear influence!

Slumpman, Saturday, 9 February 2008 09:47 (eighteen years ago)

They could stuff that guy holding his own head on any cover and call it an 'Action Comics #1 Homage'. He's the only detail you need.

Vic Fluro, Saturday, 9 February 2008 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

They should give that guy his own series.

The Yellow Kid, Saturday, 9 February 2008 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

Maybe he's the Mystery Character in Infinite Crisis that will tie Anthro to Metron to Kamandi!

Dr. Superman, Monday, 11 February 2008 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

OMG, the comic IS about that guy!
Superman embarks on a journey with a dying man who has been in the background of the Man Of Steel’s life from the very beginning. As they search for answers to the strange riddle of the man’s life, they also find themselves ambushed by…The Parasite!

I'm really not sure how I feel about this.

Dr. Superman, Wednesday, 20 February 2008 06:35 (eighteen years ago)

Nauseous?

Like everything you know is wrong and a lie?

Like you'd rather be listening to ANOTHER GREEN WORLD by Brian Eno?
