R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Saturday, 10 January 2009 07:53 (fifteen years ago) link

why did remy move

Lingbert, Saturday, 10 January 2009 08:30 (fifteen years ago) link

my current girlfriend's choice of liquid hand soap for the half bathroom uses the exact same fragrance as my high school girlfriend's choice of shampoo. People who think the human brain is amazing are all lunatics.

TOMBOT, Saturday, 10 January 2009 08:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Just the fact that you can remember that proves that the human brain is amazing. I wouldn't be able to detect that...

Stop having so much fun, John! You're making me envious.

Sara R-C, Saturday, 10 January 2009 17:06 (fifteen years ago) link

oh i have hardcore smell memory. i currently have a liquid hand soap that reminds me of a weekend spent away from home with an ex. i have had to train myself to only pay attention to the awesome fragrance and disregard the ex memories because i just like the scent so much. it is pretty much working (also pos because i am not particularly fond of said ex).

tehresa, Saturday, 10 January 2009 18:11 (fifteen years ago) link

LOL tehresa @ "we are going to write out instructions that make this seem more intimidating than it really is"

Also who drops a piece down to A??? Don't their sops have high notes?

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Saturday, 10 January 2009 19:35 (fifteen years ago) link

all your high notes are belong to me

Sara R-C, Sunday, 11 January 2009 02:08 (fifteen years ago) link

ummmmm so the score indicates a-flat major... a major is a .5 step HIGHER than the score indicates you freaks! i wonder if that is a test?

also: i wonder if all this hoops is a test to see who is rly dedicated to joining the choir.

additionally: even .5 step up, highest note would be e natural. maybe it's just not a thing w/ early music? i mean, we're not talking opera star high c's. i think if you have an e in straight tone you're pretty solid as far as the tessitura for the stuff they do? not sure. i know it's hella easier for me to sing higher in straight tone than full voice/vibrato-y.

tehresa, Sunday, 11 January 2009 02:35 (fifteen years ago) link

Suddenly annoying, unclear nursing school assignment seems less intimidating. At least I don't have to sing it in front of anyone! ;)

Sara R-C, Sunday, 11 January 2009 05:15 (fifteen years ago) link

It would be so awesome if you did, though

tehresa, Sunday, 11 January 2009 06:39 (fifteen years ago) link

Well, it would make classtime a lot more interesting on some levels...

Sara R-C, Sunday, 11 January 2009 07:48 (fifteen years ago) link

You should totally point out that the key is A-flat major to them!

In most early music, you do stuff down a half-step because A wasn't 440 then. The range shouldn't be too high because most of the parts were sung by men anyway.

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Sunday, 11 January 2009 13:12 (fifteen years ago) link

yes.

tehresa, Sunday, 11 January 2009 15:16 (fifteen years ago) link

When will you get the Final Verdict, tza?

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 03:23 (fifteen years ago) link

When indeed? Hopefully soon!

Work crunch more or less over, so I'm feeling far more relaxed. Helps that the sinus infection is finally mostly gone too...

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 January 2009 16:04 (fifteen years ago) link

hey guys, just so you know I have just decided that "Bosnia" by The Cranberries is our official theme song, mostly for gut-wrenching lolz

BAAAAAAHHHHHHSNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 16:26 (fifteen years ago) link

This decision was made based on the strength of this Youtube video:

I am also decreeing that Mamarracha Star is our official mascot

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 16:36 (fifteen years ago) link

I mean look at these search results, this dude is legendary

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 16:38 (fifteen years ago) link

Am I saving that for this afternoon when I'm stressed out and need a LOL? (YES)

Ned - ugh, glad you're feeling better; sinus infections are the worst!

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 16:48 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey I didn't mention that I lost my phone, did I? So now I have upgraded to 3G!

Honestly I was doing so well with phones and now I've lost 3 in the past 2 years, ugh

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 20:12 (fifteen years ago) link

drunk

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 20:42 (fifteen years ago) link

more like "hungover", but yeah

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 20:45 (fifteen years ago) link

John probably meant himself.

DAN! How did you lose so many phones? (on the other hand, cool upgrade!)

I am sitting and waiting for the grade on a paper I wrote in December. Prof. has told two people (via Facebook!) that our intervention plans (as a class) were not that good. Uh... could you just post the grades, plz? (Also, if we all suck at something so badly, could it be because no one has TAUGHT us? Really tired of spending time on nonsense reflection assignments when we could be learning what we're actually going to need here.)

PS kids at home are making me insane, too.

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 21:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Phone 1: Left in coat pocket during a rehearsal at a high-traffic church. Was not in coat pocket after rehearsal.

Phone 2: Fell out of shorts pocket in the back of a Las Vegas cab.

Phone 3: Somehow vanished in between our car and a restaurant in Arlington; is either on the floor of a coat room or was left in a snowdrift.

My dad, OTOH, lost all of his phones in the Mississippi (this I think is the real reason he wants to get rid of his boat)

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 21:07 (fifteen years ago) link

An impressive record, there, deX.

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

At least phone 2 was a work phone.

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Whoa, I misread that second part as saying that your dad lost all of his phones IN Mississippi, which was kind of baffling me.

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 21:08 (fifteen years ago) link

He journeyed to Mississippi specifically to lose phones. It was a ceremony carried out every year.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 January 2009 22:40 (fifteen years ago) link

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 22:42 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, look: John is sober enough to type words!

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 23:21 (fifteen years ago) link

no no, i am sober as a churchmouse, i was simply blaming dans phone losses on the fact that he is an unrepentant inveterate drunk.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 23:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Have I mentioned that I am PISSED because our choir director gave all of the black ppl in our choir solos for next week due to MLK day, ergo I have to delay any drunken extravaganza-ing until that night or the next weekend?

xp ooh not helping my case here (lol funny that this comes up the weekend after I make an out-of-town guest hurl after downing too many scotches at a poker game)

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Monday, 12 January 2009 23:25 (fifteen years ago) link

SCOTCH! SCOTCH! SCOTCH! SCOTCH!!!!!

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 23:27 (fifteen years ago) link

Loud and evil.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 January 2009 23:52 (fifteen years ago) link

yep pretty much. math-metal? maybe but not really. i was just sad to see that they only have 466 listeners on last.fm

starting to regret some of my ordering on my metal albums of 2008 for that thread on ILM. should have placed gojira higher.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Loud and evil sounds about perfect.

John is "sober as a churchmouse," huh. Strangest simile I've heard today. Well, unless the churchmouse is one of those Catholic ones with good access to the communion wine. (Communion Scotch?)

Dan, I would like to hear your solo!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Especially if the solo is loud and evil.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:05 (fifteen years ago) link

would an itr be interested in me making a compilation of "stuff i liked 2008" and sendspacing it? i need a project maybe i think.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:12 (fifteen years ago) link

i am tempted to maybe split it into "stuff i like" and "stuff i liked that you probably wont and i kind of dont blame you per se"

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:13 (fifteen years ago) link

1. do you mean music-related and 2. what on earth is "sendspacing?"

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:25 (fifteen years ago) link

I mean, there's plenty of stuff I liked last year that you wouldn't like. (That list may, indeed, be infinite.)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:26 (fifteen years ago) link

1. yes
2. might not exist anymore cant remember it is a way to get "things" digitally from "me" to "you all"

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I feel sad that my music listening has been reduced to almost nothing due to infinite school b.s., but if I remember something during the end of the month (when I have a week off), I might be able to send it via email if nothing else.

(If I can manage to email a song to someone, surely other people can, and most likely they might have actually listened to something cool recently)
