He journeyed to Mississippi specifically to lose phones. It was a ceremony carried out every year.

like the swallows returning to capistrano

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 22:42 (fifteen years ago) link

Oh, look: John is sober enough to type words!

Sara R-C, Monday, 12 January 2009 23:21 (fifteen years ago) link

no no, i am sober as a churchmouse, i was simply blaming dans phone losses on the fact that he is an unrepentant inveterate drunk.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Monday, 12 January 2009 23:23 (fifteen years ago) link

Have I mentioned that I am PISSED because our choir director gave all of the black ppl in our choir solos for next week due to MLK day, ergo I have to delay any drunken extravaganza-ing until that night or the next weekend?

xp ooh not helping my case here (lol funny that this comes up the weekend after I make an out-of-town guest hurl after downing too many scotches at a poker game)

Loud and evil.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 12 January 2009 23:52 (fifteen years ago) link

yep pretty much. math-metal? maybe but not really. i was just sad to see that they only have 466 listeners on last.fm

starting to regret some of my ordering on my metal albums of 2008 for that thread on ILM. should have placed gojira higher.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Loud and evil sounds about perfect.

John is "sober as a churchmouse," huh. Strangest simile I've heard today. Well, unless the churchmouse is one of those Catholic ones with good access to the communion wine. (Communion Scotch?)

Dan, I would like to hear your solo!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:03 (fifteen years ago) link

Especially if the solo is loud and evil.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:05 (fifteen years ago) link

would an itr be interested in me making a compilation of "stuff i liked 2008" and sendspacing it? i need a project maybe i think.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:12 (fifteen years ago) link

i am tempted to maybe split it into "stuff i like" and "stuff i liked that you probably wont and i kind of dont blame you per se"

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:13 (fifteen years ago) link

1. do you mean music-related and 2. what on earth is "sendspacing?"

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:25 (fifteen years ago) link

I mean, there's plenty of stuff I liked last year that you wouldn't like. (That list may, indeed, be infinite.)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:26 (fifteen years ago) link

1. yes
2. might not exist anymore cant remember it is a way to get "things" digitally from "me" to "you all"

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:30 (fifteen years ago) link

I feel sad that my music listening has been reduced to almost nothing due to infinite school b.s., but if I remember something during the end of the month (when I have a week off), I might be able to send it via email if nothing else.

(If I can manage to email a song to someone, surely other people can, and most likely they might have actually listened to something cool recently)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 00:54 (fifteen years ago) link

you know 24 hrs of having a 3G iPhone has not convinced me that the 3G iPhone is a big deal

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 19:29 (fifteen years ago) link

Well, but you had an iPhone before. I bet if you had to live with my lame cell phone for a day or so, you'd feel differently!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 19:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I apologise to all and sundry for saying that school would be a relief. 1 and a half days and I feel overwhelmed.

Ed, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 19:56 (fifteen years ago) link

lol told ya

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:04 (fifteen years ago) link

Hey, I enjoy school and thought you were nuts... (otoh, those orientation things can be really grating and pointless)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:07 (fifteen years ago) link

hey so is it worth me going to business school, y/n

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:08 (fifteen years ago) link

Anything to get away from that kooky job you have, deX.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:09 (fifteen years ago) link

Also, if it's going to suddenly change you into a Black Conservative, I will find this wildly entertaining, so y.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:10 (fifteen years ago) link

urgent & key question: If you become a Black Conservative, do you get a uniform/bag/hat/pin?

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:11 (fifteen years ago) link

Only YOU can investigate!!!

(btw, Dan, I was just skimming the "Buffy boxed sets" threads and see your love for Willow flaying the skin off of that dude. You. Are. Awesome. Also, "evil Willow" is A.'s favorite character.)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:12 (fifteen years ago) link

xp btw, if there's a secret Black Conservative handshake, I expect you to share!

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 20:12 (fifteen years ago) link

no wai, I'm no snitch

Dan, this course I am doing, ETIM is great if you want to do something that is a bit different from an MBA, only lasts a year and allows you to do a bunch of technical stuff as well as management.

Ed, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 21:19 (fifteen years ago) link

wait, what is it? ETIM?

There's a Grady now?? (sunny successor), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 22:39 (fifteen years ago) link

i have decided that it is "Engineer of Technical and Information Management", but i dont know shit and am just guessing.

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Tuesday, 13 January 2009 23:01 (fifteen years ago) link

Engineering and technology innovation management

But close.

half wit

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 23:37 (fifteen years ago) link

(sorry, that was not directed at anyone; it's just the first response to "half credit" that popped into my head)

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 23:37 (fifteen years ago) link

Latest drama in my school world is that one of our profs thought she was grading something out of 25 points, but it should have been out of 50 points, and basically everyone thought they had failed this (rather huge) assignment. I've been on the phone for the past two hours with upset fellow students.

Sara R-C, Tuesday, 13 January 2009 23:39 (fifteen years ago) link

See this is why I *work* at a school, not take classes there.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:49 (fifteen years ago) link

It was not a fun afternoon. I jokingly emailed another student, who had received two points more than I had on this assignment, that she had "gotten a higher 'F' than me!"

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:52 (fifteen years ago) link

Also, the assignment was one of the dreaded billion page papers (TNCs) that everyone hated already. This incident did not give people warm fuzzies.

Did I mention we have a final on Thursday night? A lot of people lost study time in being upset about this nonsense.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:53 (fifteen years ago) link

sara called me a half wit because i didnt know about the chicken pox vaccine :(

R. L. Stinebeck (John Justen), Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:54 (fifteen years ago) link

Aw, sweetie, that's not why I called you a half wit.

Sara R-C, Wednesday, 14 January 2009 05:55 (fifteen years ago) link

sigh

(I'm just thinking that you were seriously lucky to not get chicken pox that night that H4ll13 G00dm4n exposed you to them, dude. I haven't forgotten!)
