ayo any of marc loi's friends or family members who found this thread just innocently googling out of boredom/curiosity, let me break it down 4 u: a large & disparate group of people on the internet think that he sucks & have all come together to laugh abt it

flopson, Sunday, 20 February 2011 19:38 (thirteen years ago) link

he means well and is often otm tbh

my only beef w/ him is the one stated above

☠ (roxymuzak), Sunday, 20 February 2011 20:04 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah that's pretty much my only beef too, but it's seems like such a big part of his persona.

Truly a Loi unto himself.

otm but like, a lot of what has been quoted here recently...there is nothing wrong with it or funny about it, except that it is related to marc loi. like, dig deeper imo and find the reprehensible stuff. no one cares if he says it is ok for kids to masturbate - it is. perving on his facebook friends in the name of feminism is a lot more hilarious

posting a fake news article on facebook that quotes yourself as an expert is pretty hilarious and mockable.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 February 2011 07:48 (thirteen years ago) link

I mean why not just make up an expert if you're gonna do a parody article? Do we really need "political scientist Marc Loi" in there?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 21 February 2011 07:51 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah tbf thats pretty hilarious

☠ (roxymuzak), Monday, 21 February 2011 07:54 (thirteen years ago) link

There was a segment on NPR this morning about allowing women in active combat roles in the military and it reminded me of this thread.

mh, Monday, 21 February 2011 14:48 (thirteen years ago) link

I think the issue w/ Marc Loi is he comes across as "HEY LOOK AT ME, I CARE ABOUT YOUR RIGHTS, LADIES", wears it too much as a badge of honor. I don't doubt his sincerity but dude could dial it back a bit. Sometimes he comes across as the male feminist version of the "only gay in the village" character on Little Britain.

angel of debt!!! monarch to the kingdom of the Fed... (San Te), Monday, 21 February 2011 15:49 (thirteen years ago) link

but roxy, most of us have moved past the point of mean-spirited rubbernecking, and I for one see Marc Loi as a fascinating subject for a case study. at this point my reaction to him is less, "what a disgusting, pervy savage," than "lie down on ze couch, Marc Loi. now tell me, how does your mutter und your vather treatink you, betvween ze ages of 1 und 5? let us explore ze underlyink sexual neuroses of your kinderheit, beginnink vith ze moment of your birth."

Marc Loi is allowed to be an endearing weirdo because his intentions w/r/t feminism (a worthy cause!) are basically sound underneath all his weirdness. it would be a totally different story if his chief obsession were, say, white supremacy.

I've met a few people IRL who I'd compare Loi to: socially awkward, well-intentioned, but with a tendency to say or do things that betray an outlook that doesn't quite mesh with mainstream reality.

I'm thinking specifically of a friendly guy who pretty obviously started being way too interested in women's feet in public.

mh, Tuesday, 22 February 2011 14:35 (thirteen years ago) link

feel kinda bad that this is the #1 google result for Marc Loi tho. p sure when I started this thread I had it googleproofed, but presumably a noize mod de-googleproofed it to make it easier to search for or something

@MenMenstruation: The way that girls "know" when their #period is about to arrive is just amazing. The female anatomy is so beautiful and advanced!

That guy is way, way, way more into menstruation than I could ever imagine being.

Dale, dale, dale (Abbbottt), Sunday, 13 May 2012 19:24 (twelve years ago) link

Like he knows a lot more about individual brands of tampon, pad, etc, than would even be plausible to consider, for me, a menstruator.

Dale, dale, dale (Abbbottt), Sunday, 13 May 2012 19:26 (twelve years ago) link

http://meninmenstruation.wordpress.com/2011/06/26/always-maxi-leakguard-plus-with-odor-lock-regular-review/

I would definitely recommend this pad to others and has given me renewed confidence in Always. It’s nice to know that they’re trying to get ahead-of-the-game and also moving away from their so-called “like cotton” dry weave and moving to one which feels comfortable, regardless of the weather. After all, pads are terrible when it’s gross outside and you’re sweating, mixed with menstrual flow smell and if incontinent, even urine – so to have a pad that can stand up to that really is impressive. Although the price is steeper than the usual line of pads or other brands, for $3.88 everyday low price at Walmart, I can’t complain.

Why is he reviewing pads? wtf? This is like those vibrator reviews on Amazon where a man write how his WIFE really loved the vibrator and how happy his WIFE was with all her orgasms.

Dale, dale, dale (Abbbottt), Sunday, 13 May 2012 19:32 (twelve years ago) link

Wow that one blog post has more in it than any thoughts I've ever given to my own sanitary options. Jesus, dude.

Dale, dale, dale (Abbbottt), Sunday, 13 May 2012 21:30 (twelve years ago) link

oh you dreadful girls, hopefully one day your flippant posts will evolve into being as amazing and beautiful and advanced as your anatomies.

estela, Sunday, 13 May 2012 21:37 (twelve years ago) link

Haha yes. I can tell my period is coming because my tummy hurts. MAGIC.
