lmfbo @ "buzz off", poss the worst zing since "and butt"

flag this post and die (roxymuzak), Friday, 1 February 2013 17:58 (eleven years ago) link

it's actually a pretty good zing in context

iatee, Friday, 1 February 2013 17:59 (eleven years ago) link

and butt vs. and twat

sarahell, Friday, 1 February 2013 18:57 (eleven years ago) link

obv and butt is even more gentle

flag this post and die (roxymuzak), Friday, 1 February 2013 18:57 (eleven years ago) link

i mean calling someone a twat vs calling someone a butt
a four year old would call someone a butt
my mom would call me a butt

flag this post and die (roxymuzak), Friday, 1 February 2013 18:58 (eleven years ago) link

however, for our british listeners, twat doesn't rhyme with what

how's life, Friday, 1 February 2013 19:00 (eleven years ago) link

ahem, that wd be yr southern british listeners, if any

Hermann Hesher (Noodle Vague), Friday, 1 February 2013 19:18 (eleven years ago) link

xp please don't turn the zing thread into a comparative linguistics "how do you say..." thread

sarahell, Friday, 1 February 2013 19:18 (eleven years ago) link

good point

how's life, Friday, 1 February 2013 19:21 (eleven years ago) link

Do people pronounce twat "twot" in Hull?? I've never heard anyone British pronounce it that way no matter where they're from.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Friday, 1 February 2013 19:22 (eleven years ago) link

(sorry for linguistics)

mh, Friday, 1 February 2013 19:31 (eleven years ago) link

suze (Matt P), Friday, 1 February 2013 19:32 (eleven years ago) link

wow i am confused

suze (Matt P), Friday, 1 February 2013 19:32 (eleven years ago) link

it depends on how you/they pronounce "at" I guess

mh, Friday, 1 February 2013 19:32 (eleven years ago) link

twat rhymes with hat. twot rhymes with hot.

glumdalclitch, Friday, 1 February 2013 19:33 (eleven years ago) link

it's not that "what" and "twat" rhyme, the vowel is slightly different, it's that the "d" in "and" when pronounced right before the "w" in what, sounds softer, and more like a "t"
