god this griping will never go away, will it?
hell, i dont like real crowded places either..but, weekdays there are fine...plenty of seats and attentive bartenders last night. i mean, even I! had to wait for the 3 people in front of me for a single beer
― bb, Monday, 26 November 2007 19:39 (sixteen years ago) link
I don't mind drinking there at Daddys, really, if enough of you form a protective shield around me.
― Dr Morbius, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:42 (sixteen years ago) link
listen, you can always get drunk and go to the metro
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:48 (sixteen years ago) link
yeah just think of it as pre-gaming for metro, morbs.
― hstencil, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:51 (sixteen years ago) link
NB: I am the "brother" of a regular at metro and people frequently ask me for him!

OMG I HAVE A GAY FRIENDS TOO!!!!!
― ian, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:53 (sixteen years ago) link
I've never seen you hang out at a gay bar, homophobe.
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:54 (sixteen years ago) link
Yes, that surely makes me a homophobe. You're right.
― ian, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:57 (sixteen years ago) link
you guys can both love gay dudes equally
― max, Monday, 26 November 2007 20:59 (sixteen years ago) link
Ben, my gripe with Daddy's is more like:
* 2 or 3 female bartenders twisting their toes into the floor at the back wall, chatting, while people crowd up to be served. * slow moving like molasses, generally supah inefficient -- like, you'd get fired from a kitchen for moving one lemon wedge at a time, but at Daddy's it's like they're sleepwalking to the margarita machine. * bartender looks me in the eye, turns away to serve other side of bar, comes back and serves a guy next to me who wasn't there before, and guy not only does not say "she was here first" but actually nudges me out of the way so he can lean on the bar. Bad manners all 'round.

wait, I think Tuesday might be lez night at Metrop
― Dr Morbius, Monday, 26 November 2007 21:06 (sixteen years ago) link
I seem to vaguely recall that it might be karaoke night?
― Laurel, Monday, 26 November 2007 21:07 (sixteen years ago) link
My problem with Laurel:
repeats herself
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 26 November 2007 21:08 (sixteen years ago) link
Boy, how annoying! Good thing we don't know anyone else who does that.
― Laurel, Monday, 26 November 2007 21:14 (sixteen years ago) link
maybe the bartenders overheard you repeat yourself?
JUST KEEEEEDING
― hstencil, Monday, 26 November 2007 21:15 (sixteen years ago) link
I want to drink at places where people go to drink, not to see and be seen & talk to the bartender for 10 minutes while I'm trying to get a drink at a bar that's not even busy.

Which is also the bartender's fault, mind you.
Gather! Make merry! But pls remember that the primary function of a BAR is to serve DRINKS.

I'm not anxious. I just refuse to go back to Daddy's. Also I dislike it when the bartender's main job doesn't seem to be serving people alcohol. Being an awesome hipster and posing behind the bar might be what they pay you for in Wburg but it's not a vote of confidence for me.

laurel,
ive always seen yr points re: the clubhouse...i just think its hilarious that this same argument always comes up...i guess my thinking is, if thats where someone wants to be, for whatever reason, then everyone has the option of going or not. no sense in this constant retreading of (legitimate for some/most) gripes. that place isnt about to change. too bad, i guess, as id like to catch you one of these nb drinks nights...
and jon..quittit with the pot/kettle biznez...

That reminds me that I did once see a 5-yr old try to give his mother a beer at a rugby game. He went to the cooler and got it and brought it back to her and said "HERE MAMA. YOU WANT A BEER?" and she was like "Oh, haha, um, THANK you, Charlie, but Mama's not drinking today! Mama has to drive, so put that back, okay?" "BUT MAMA, I HAVE TO GET YOU A BEER" "Er, yes, sweetheart, but not today. Give that back to the nice lady." Etc. Good times.
― Laurel, Monday, 26 November 2007 21:32 (sixteen years ago) link
i want to adopt that child. or, more to the point, i want to adopt his cooler.

yeah, i want to get involved with a woman who, apparently, had a kid just so she could train it to get her beers. while admirable, there's only room for one of those types in a relationship.
