i suppose i better own up to the fact that i own most of the early 7" by both !!! and outhud. hahaha.

i guess five years later it's not so rare for people to dance at shows but that was my major reason that !!! must be doing something right because they could get a stiff SF crowd to actually get down.

now they just seem more and more like a funk-jam band, which is painful. i'll never forget.. was watching techtv...you know, so after i spent most of my day on the web at work, i could watch tv about websites too... but they had somebody's top 50 of 2004 as compiled by every website that somebody could find... and !!! was on it... and the show hosts were like, "look some band whose name is just exclaimation points." fuck. like, get an intern to go down to the corner and get a clue.

outhud i'm more inclined to defend. [cue antonio benderas bare chested guitar swill] but that is because i am liking the forbidden: DANCE.

i think if i had heard arthur russell first, outhud might've seemed less neat.

loads of people here like dance music. wtf? theres me, and theres adam, and...well, there was that one time stencil saw some german guy dj in chicago, remember? way before kompakt was popular! and, dont forget adam likes dance too, and also grime, and manchester united (but you cant have everything)

i was kinda kidding... yet not. i know there are folks here that like the dance... jeez, this IS still ILX... but yet i am sorta acknowledging a sentiment that just cause a band induces dancing or has a good dance beat, doesn't make them instantly great to everybody. and for those who don't like outhud and !!! are very unlikely to give them any kind of cred for a fun, dancey show.

!!! were pretty cool and fun 5 years ago is all i'm sayin.
