EL OH EL. We did a Spelljammer campaign once when I was in high school. The DM got mad at us cuz we were being retarded instead of playing intensely so he was like "okay all of a sudden a big worm comes out of the planet and eats your ship, GO HOME".

HAHA! yeah, as a DM, i am not afraid to whip out boulders for players that are killing the game. of course, if most of the players are joining in, i usually do too. it's when one or two derail the game for a larger group too often, you gotta pull out the rhetorical thunder. settles arguments easily too. especially really stupid arguments that don't affect anything.
