I don't have parents, I was raised by RED PANDAS.

Dr. Eldon Tyrell (ex machina), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Well...how noise are they?

Victor Mackulous (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

MY MOM CALLED MY BROTHER A "POSER" A COUPLE WEEKS AGO.

IT WAS PRETTY EPIC AND TOTALLY NOISE.

ddb (ddb), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

My brother's quite noise. Ask gygax!

Victor Mackulous (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

mark p (Mark P), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

My dad has worked in the same building for almost 30 years!

Victor Mackulous (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure if that's very noise or so not noise.

Victor Mackulous (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:06 (twenty-one years ago)

my dad has a beard and i think he's doing E lately

charleston charge (chaki), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

not-noize: my mom didn't know what pot smelled like
so noize: she has always let noize dudes crash at the house. also, she has preserved my flier collection from the hardcore days (or at least didn't take it off the walls).

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

my parents have a gospel record.

my dad used to drive a motorcycle with bright orange helmets... one had a "BIG AL" 80s glitter sticker on the back. my dad often had NO fashion sense whatsoever. no shame.

my mom is tiny yet can sing louder than most. she's a tweeter with an 11 on the volume knob.

they are so NOT noixe, yet kind of noixe. more corny abnormal than sxe-nxe.

msp (msp), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, and i grew up with home sewn and thrift store clothes, and govvament cheese.

but on the clothes front, that was when such things were very uncool. straigh to nerdcamp, do not pass go, do not collect 200. second grade trauma, "NICE THREADS MAN!" to my flannel bell bottoms from the sally anns.

msp (msp), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 17:37 (twenty-one years ago)

my dad lived in Berkeley in the 60s & tells me stories of hanging out on Angel Island trippin on acid naked on the coast. he's also plays bluegrass and is in a cult. very noize. but he's also a doctor and a lawyer, so that cancels his noize.

my mom works for a college radio station in LA. very noize. that station is KCRW, not so noize.

my stepdad likes roxy music and still smokes teh pot. very noize.

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

When my dad found out I had a Gong album, he hugged me harder than he had since I graduated high school, and then gave me the other two in the trilogy. He's seen Reverend Horton Heat thirteen times.

I used to wake up in the middle of the night to my mom tap-dancing in the kitchen.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

a doctor AND a lawyer?

Victor Mackulous (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

My dad just went to India for three weeks! For fun! Also, I have mentioned this before, but I think it is funny -- on Thanksgiving he and my mom got into an argument because he wanted to listen to an Ice Cube track on a mix CD I made him, and my mom said no. My mom is not very noise.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

My mom would not let my brother listen to the Onyx album she called "BADFUCUP".

My dad once commented that he noticed I had "been listening to more of the jungle drums again".

They both love The Carpenters though my dad has got into classical stuff since they started going to Vienna to visit a friend/client of his.

Victor Mackulous (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

my dad's a doctor AND a lawyer AND has his business taxation degree, AND his cpa AND probably a masters in something AND his real estate licence AND he's been married 5 times. i have a 31 yr old brother (wife 2) (my mom was wife 3), and an 8yr old girl (wife 5) and two 3yr old twins (wife 5). i guess he's pretty noize.

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 19:54 (twenty-one years ago)

You should tell him to use his powers for GOOD rather than EVIL.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Mom: 0. Actually, more like -5.5.
Dad: 3 (graduated from law school looking like a hippie bum, divorced my mom and ended up with someone 17 years younger than him, has non-shit taste in music)

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I think my dad should be at at least like 7 or something considering A) he's been shot at, 2) he once yelled obsenities at a young Henry Rollins apparently, 3) the first time I heard Ministry was when I pilfered Psalm 69 from his tape case, and D) his cat is named Lucky because "it's lucky to still be alive".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 21:20 (twenty-one years ago)

My father was drafted in the Army and didn't get out for 35 years.
Now he is a contractor on the Missile Defense Program, plus the income from his pension.

My mother was a high school math teacher and then she was a housewife in the Army Reserves. Now she collects antique furniture and stuff with turkeys on it to fill up the retirement castle in the mountains.

The only way they could be less noixy is if maybe they were really into Jesus Christ.

What do I win.

TOMBOT 64 (TOMBOT 64), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 22:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Frankly, you should be banned.

rive.r (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 22:01 (twenty-one years ago)

At least my dad smoked pot once and he's "okay now, thankfully" (my mum said this!).

rive.r (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 22 March 2005 22:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Both of my parents worked at radio stations in their 20s. My Dad worked for N@S@. My mom lived in Paris and drove a sports car. They used to watch airplanes take off. They do not listen to popular music unless you mean, like, Rodgers and Hart, or the Miles classic quartet. They study brainz.

My parents are not noise.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Also, my Dad makes art from old computer parts. Maybe he is noise.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

We had a cat named Lucky too. It was injured so my father shot it. One time after he smoked out my brother he told a story about how he stomped a junky to death in an alley, but I'm not sure how well I believe that. He's definitely killed a lot of Vietnamese people though. Now he works in a factory and plays in a hippy cover band.

Sonny, Ah!!1 (Sonny A.), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

mom = 0
dad = about a 7

my dad used to hang out in topanga canyon with neil young and various other hippies because his ex wife was a hippie songwriter who used to own a club down there.. apparently he did acid back then because ever since I got out of college he likes to tell me about it almost every time I see him. las thanksgiving he didnt eat any food before dinner, took painkillers, drank a bottle of wine and threw up in my grandmas kitchen. I lof heem.

The JaXoN 5 (JasonD), Wednesday, 23 March 2005 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

My dad is extremely not noize. He has surprisingly decent taste in music, though.

My mom, on the other hand, is a transient, mentally-ill drug addict. I can't decide if this is definitely not noize, or if it is the most fucking noize thing I've ever seen/experienced.

The end.

I would like to see people bullshitting their way into the presidency by watching reruns of "West Wing." Or bullshit their way into coolness by watching "Harold and Maude" all the time.

sugarpants: the luscious ingenue (sugarpants), Thursday, 24 March 2005 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

five years pass...

my dad just called me with this story:

my mom went to get her emissions tested and paid the $14 with all ones. the dude there asked her if she was a pole-dancer, and my mom responds "no, im a weaver."

my mom's on some zen-ass shit.

69, Wednesday, 8 December 2010 22:38 (fifteen years ago)

my mom surfs in tofino, b.c. even in the winter and also plays difficult piano pieces live over the phone to me. her husband emails me cute photos of her surfing and also sometimes sends awesome kinda genius poetry abt our modern condition.
