amon (eman), Thursday, 31 March 2005 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

one month passes...
"Their most overtly political album 3WT saw the band lengthening the songs out and experimenting with more genres than ever before: there's shades of samba and Spanish guitar, occasional schmaltz, spoken word segments, rap (the awesome "No One"), '70s cheese-rock (a Blue Oyster Cult cover), sung-over-the-phone weirdness, wacked-out psychedelia and rootsy rock'n'roll. An eclectic mix that not only saw them leaving on a high note, but also has one wondering just exactly what they would've done had they continued on." - from Dave Lang's Perfect Sound Forever article on SST

As far as the unintentionally final salvo of a talented fatty goes

Boon lives...and the Minutemen Mach 2 finally break up in 92 after barfing three "grunge" albums on A&M with new lead singer Hank Rollins. Released in 2005, flabby ol' 3WTFL would be hailed as The Comeback Of The Gods. As always, way ahead of their time.

fIREHOSE OTM. Or basically anything on SST after about 1987.

m coleman (lovebug starski), Sunday, 22 May 2005 19:52 (twenty-one years ago)

the answer is....SWA!!!!!

brg30 (brg30), Sunday, 22 May 2005 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The first fIREHOSE album was better than this turkey. Possibly the second, too.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 22 May 2005 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Current listening: SWA - XCIII

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 22 May 2005 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

cue "Chuck Dukowsi Was Confused"

jack cole (jackcole), Sunday, 22 May 2005 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The rain, it came and began to fall
As the thunderheads rolled out across the land
But as it fell, the life in hell
Was soaked up by a thirsty desert sand
As a lone man on the wasteland
The wind whipped up the dust into his face
In search of sacred waters
That existed in this godforsaken place

Arroyo!
She's my Arroyo
Arroyo!
Be my Arroyo

And when the West Wind blows
I just hit the trail and ride
And where the water flows
I'll be right there by her side

My boots won't fit and my head hung low
As the sun beat down from an unforgiving sky
Its laughter fanned the flames inside my brain
As my soul grew parched and dry

Arroyo!
You're my Arroyo
My Arroyo!
My Arroyo

'Cause when the desert calls me
And the sunset starts to bleed
I just keep on crawlin'
For water's all I need!
Let it flow!

(guitar solo)

Arroyo!
Be my Arroyo
Arroyo!
My Arroyo

Well, life is just a desert
Where we search for love in every place we can
Yeah, and the woman is the water
That brings new life to the lost and desperate man

You're my Arroyo!
My Arroyo
My Arroyo!
You're my Arroyo

And when the West Wind blows
You'll be right there by my side
To let your waters flow
And save this man that would've died
