i told somebody about my morning jacket once... in passing... cause i thought it would be a band they would like... and now they introduced me as, "the person that turned us onto my morning jacket!"

The Smashing Pumpkins are similar to Weezer in that they were bands manufactured by record labels. Would a band that never played out prior to their debut's release EVER have much stock in the underground rock scene? Doubtful. Billy's quixotic indie-cred was imagined, however bitter he (STILL!!!) remains about it.
