charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 30 May 2005 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i told somebody about my morning jacket once... in passing... cause i thought it would be a band they would like... and now they introduced me as, "the person that turned us onto my morning jacket!"

you would've thought i hooked him up with his wife or amway or reiki. they're following the band on their anniversary.

this guy who used to be one of my best friends here in L.A. is this super-indie bitter fuckwit who turned on me for no discernable reason other than me implying he was acting like a twat. then suddenly I got "boring", which is around the time I started going out to shows more and he started meeting up with myspace chixors at art gallery openings.

this person is wise. perhaps he has things to teach you, or, perhaps, us all

charltonlido (gareth), Monday, 30 May 2005 19:05 (twenty-one years ago)

wise man once said, "use myspace as a wormhole into the panties of arcade fire fans"

The Smashing Pumpkins are similar to Weezer in that they were bands manufactured by record labels. Would a band that never played out prior to their debut's release EVER have much stock in the underground rock scene? Doubtful. Billy's quixotic indie-cred was imagined, however bitter he (STILL!!!) remains about it.
