My wife and I want to start power pop bubblegum glam electro band. Want to get some good keyboard or something I can program cool sounds for different songs. Suggestionssss????

go to a used music shop and try out some drum machines and keys to get a feel for what you might like. then try ebay, use harmony central.com for reviews and price guide. the korg electribe series is a good one and all over ebay. i use my the synth one all of the time when i am just sitting around the house. -xpost-

TOMBOT has an entire crate of musical gear for making exactly what you speak of.

i have no idea what is in it or what any of it does but i know it is gear to make techno electro music. i know there's a microphone that's about it.

boss dr-660 > alesis sr-16, and boss = more sounds.

Conventional wisdom says the Korg electribe series is preferred over the Roland box's, when discussing new, cheapish, all-in-one drum machine w/ a bit of synth.

Go the used route:

Sequential Circuits Drumtracks @100 dollars.
Roland Alpha Juno/Juno 1 @ 120 dollars.

not as versatile and you'll need something to sequence with, but this will sounds miles more interesting then any new box.

It depends how much $$$ you want to spend.

Cheap:
Synths - Casio CZ101 or 1000, Yamaha TX81z, Yamaha SY77 (has built-in sequencer w/disc drive) (also can replicate any DX7 sound)
Kork S3 drum m/c/sequencer combination thing (sounds great & is ridiculously cheap!)

middle:
Waldorf Micro-Q (I have one of these and it fucking pwnz)
Alesis Ion (likewise)
dunno what's good in more expenisve sequencers & drum machines @ the moment

What can you tell me about the arpeggiator on the MicroKorg? Does it have different arpeggio patterns and you can program the tempo and the note value? Also, how easy is the vocoder to use?

It has programmable arpeggio patterns/sequencer and yes the tempo is all adjustable. Vocoder = easy (even easier if you can play and sing at the same time which is not exactly my forte).
