The Fushitsusha "1978" CD is nice.... What else to get? This album kind of reminds me of the "No. 3" 10"/CD that Black Dice had.

goodbye, wallet

i spent about 300 dollars! plus it's all really expensive there, but no more expensive than other Japanese cd stores. i think i got an in store discount but im not sure.

the stuff on the left wall is, if i remember correctly, american garage and psych. the right wall seemed to be german and european psych. directly to the right of where i am standing with the camera is the japanese section. lots of great non-PSF stuff there too! (and even Alchemy records stuff)

ryan (ryan), Saturday, 6 August 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

from outside, it's on the second floor of a small building.

I tried to find this when I was in Tokyo but couldn't. Actually I couldn't find any good record shops, where the fuck are they? I ended up spending about £100 in Tower on Toru Takemitsu, pre-YMO and early Joe Hisaishi cd's so it wasn't a complete washout.

Modern Music / PSF appears to be in someone's house, yes?

Matt #2 (Matt #2), Saturday, 6 August 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

take the Keio line from Shinjuku and get off at Meidaimae. as you leave the station bear right past some place where bikes and motorcycles are parked and then take the first left and PSF is on that street on the left. yes, it looks like an apartment building. as the sign says you have to get buzzed in.

i was transferring from the Odakyu line at Shinjuku and it took me like an hour to figure out how to get to the Keio line! crazy tokyo train stations!

ryan (ryan), Saturday, 6 August 2005 16:27 (twenty years ago)

I was there 2 years ago. Very, very pricy then, I can't imagine what it's like now that the dollar is down significantly to the the yen.

gygax! (gygax!), Saturday, 6 August 2005 22:44 (twenty years ago)

Leave our country, jap lover.

Ian John50n (orion), Monday, 8 August 2005 02:16 (twenty years ago)

I'm Hi, Jared Fogle (ex machina), Tuesday, 9 August 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

I have a fat stack of yen huddled and yearning to be free.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 00:47 (twenty years ago)

(That was supposed to be a question with a question mark at the end.)

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 00:48 (twenty years ago)

ryan,

I ate at a wappa-ya off the main drag about a block up from the train station towards Daibutsu upstairs and on the left, totally amazing.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 14:57 (twenty years ago)

Oftentimes, Japanese street vistas tend to strike me as rather depressing. Is it so in the reality?

GO BACK TO SAD SCOTLAND IF YOU WANT DEPRESSING

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 10 August 2005 18:14 (twenty years ago)

Excuse me if you are indeed Japanese, I really meant no offence.

Oh shit, Disk Union looks amazing. Sadly it's my wife thats going not me. She's willing to go a 'little out of her way' to find some vinyl/CDs that are difficult to get in the UK/EU... Ah well..

mmmm, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:23 (twelve years ago)

just flipping through those pictures, it's astounding how many CDs/LPs I recognize, and how many of those are ones I've looked for incessantly myself at the local store. God bless that place!

frogbs, Friday, 28 June 2013 20:29 (twelve years ago)

The main Disk Union in Shinjuku (the one up 3 floors) is very well equipped and easy to find.

Where are you staying in Japan?

MaresNest, Sunday, 6 March 2016 10:24 (ten years ago)

we're not sure yet--flying into tokyo and out of osaka two weeks later. currently filling in the gaps. trying to balance city stuff with attractive rural hiking type stuff. also interested in eating and seeing weird music.
