Hailing from West Philly, solo artist Tara Burke aka FURSAXA boasts a fan base that includes Acid Mothers Temple and Thurston Moore, who released a record by her on his Ecstatic Peace imprint two years ago. Her perfomances beautifully weave together elements of medieval vocal music, outsider folk, and hypnotic minimalism. She recently released a new cd, Lepidoptera, on ATP Recordings, in the wake of an acclaimed performance at the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in the UK.

Under the Zaimph moniker, she has recorded and released two solo transmissions of mirage-like guitar, fried electronics and disembodied vocals that are much worth tracking down. In person, Bassett’s sets verge on ritualistic, as she turns the room into a swirling vortex of light and energy.

CHRISTINA CARTER is a central figure in the American underground of psychedelic pickers and singers. Most know her for playing and singing in the groups Charalambides and Scorces, but her spectral solo concerts in recent years have brought people around to the fact that she is a formidable presence in any manifestation. Alongside recent collaborations with Black Forrest/Black Sea and My Cat is an Alien, Carter has issued chilling solo recordings of haunting intensity on the Kranky and Wholly Other labels, as well as books of deathless verse through Slow Toe Press.
