Serious: How do I dance to Drum and Bass?

Jonothong Williamsmang (ex machina), Monday, 17 October 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

Soundmurderer

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

I mean Soundmurderer

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

i stopped listening to d&b in 2001.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

jess - yes

Twitchy Droid Leg!

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:08 (twenty years ago)

i loved d&b ... but now all of that's been consumed and regurged... is there really a pure d&b scene that's notable anymore?

sort of tough that music nerds presided over electronic music in the last 10-15 years and overanalyzed and overcategorized it all. seems like it's created a "if it's not a new sound, it's a bad sound" problem.

when does it get it's older aged years like rock? song craft over sound craft? is there room? oh no, did somebody put glue on this soap box. fuck!

There is someone on this thread who can help you with that.

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

UK GARAGE IS CLOTTED BECAUSE IT DONE WHAT JUNGLE DONE A FEW YEARS AGO - EVERY PRODUCER IS GUNNIN FOR THE DARKEST BLUDCLART SMACKHEAD TUNE POSSIBLE, AND THE MUSIC DESCENDS INTO A BLACK HOLE OF SOULLESS RUBBISH, EACH TUNE COMING HARDER, DARKER AND MORE STERILE THAN THE ONE BEFORE. DONT TRY AND TELL ME DERE IS MUCH HEAVY VOCAL TUNES ATM COS THERE SIMPLY ARNT. THE BIGGEST TUNE RIGHT NOW IS PULSE X AND THIS IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF UNMUSICAL, SOULESS, PLAYSTATION PRODUCED GASH THAT WILL SMASH ANY RAVE PROVIDED THERE ARE CRACKMAN 400 MCS JIBA JABERING OVER THE TOP

Konflict - "Messiah"

apparently voted the "noisiest/ugliest" dnb tune of all time by something or other. (warning: may not actually be any good.)

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:29 (twenty years ago)

is it the sound and beat matching of dj sets that forced the categorization and therefore keeps it all an arms race? vs a nice variety where it's okay that zeppelin sounds like it's roots?

lesser's remix of junior varsity km's "fourshadowing" is something i pull out from time to time. the d&b remixes of the locust are still amazing if you askems me.

msp (mspa), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:30 (twenty years ago)

the only drum n' bass I still listen to is Datach'i.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:40 (twenty years ago)

actually i will probably do this tomorrow. i need to go through my records.

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:43 (twenty years ago)

is Datach'i even considered dn'b anymore? he used to be.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

I was wondering why the Konflict track was so quiet and then I realized my headphones weren't properly plugged in to my computer

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:44 (twenty years ago)

datach'i is as d&b as max tundra. not at all.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

A girl I was once seeing called all electronic music "drum n' bass". She said "well it's got drums in it. and bass".

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

i hope it was worth your trouble

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)

it wasn't

Munki (nordicskilla), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

i once dated a girl who told me she didn't like "anything with a prominent beat". it was a short lived romance.

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

i read that a certain someone now rates metalheadz over reinforced

strng hlkngtn: what does it mean? (dubplatestyle), Monday, 17 October 2005 17:55 (twenty years ago)

still wish there was some kind of Awesome records compilation, maybe soul jazz could release it, perhaps with some tasteful montage of rush green road graffiti or something
