Joshua202b: Do you like Joni Mitchell?
Dukefang99: i havent heard much
Dukefang99: ive heard some, but nothing that struck me
Dukefang99: i mean shes got a great voice of course
Joshua202b: She's really good, but you have to listen to her alone, in the dark, locked in your room, weeping into a pillow, and never ever tell ANYONE about it
Dukefang99: hahahahahahahhahahahahaha

Joshua202b: And always wait a few months before telling a girl you like Joni Mitchell
Dukefang99: hahahahhahahahahahahaha
Joshua202b: I mean it's tempting to try to impress her
Joshua202b: with your sensitivity and all
Dukefang99: at vassar im sure its standard
Joshua202b: but you have to wait
Dukefang99: in fact i know it is
Joshua202b: otherwise it seems creepy
Joshua202b: After a few months though it might actually work.
Joshua202b: It's weird that way
Joshua202b: It's similar to liking Tori Amos, I guess
Joshua202b: (not that I like Tori Amos)
Dukefang99: see at vassar
Dukefang99: u probably want to say this off the bat
Dukefang99: in order to get anywhere at all
Joshua202b: Oh, I see.
Dukefang99: u don't like joni mitchell? pig.
Joshua202b: Hahhahahaha

by the time we got to woodstock, we were half a million strong - though we had to ask first on the internet whether it was a show worth going to or not.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

Shit, you're right. I would have missed out. I think I've learned something from all this.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:23 (twenty years ago)

"Blue" is fucking awesome, it's like the chick version of "Blood on the Tracks".

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

that's the meanest thing i've ever seen written about blue :(

vacuum cleaner (electricsound), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:31 (twenty years ago)

No, "Blood on the Tracks" is just the dude version of "Heart Like a Wheel"

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:45 (twenty years ago)

GET ONE FUCKING TASTE!

joni is the biz.

jaxon (jaxon), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:54 (twenty years ago)

Joni is awesome. Court and Spark is my favorite.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 04:57 (twenty years ago)

I like Ladies of the Canyon, Blue, and also Hissing of Summer Lawns is the shit.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 05:04 (twenty years ago)

Don Juan & Hissing are me faves

jaxon (jaxon), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 05:31 (twenty years ago)

I love it that Noize dudes love Joni. One argument I will never have again: Joni Mitchell vs Mike Patton.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 13:52 (twenty years ago)

IAN TO THREAD

RSG (crablangoon), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 13:56 (twenty years ago)

hissing of summer lawns & court and spark = the best.

blue is kinda monotonous.

Special Agent Dale Koopa (orion), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 14:16 (twenty years ago)

I haven't heard Hissing: I suppose I shall have to rectify that. Hejira makes me nervous somehow.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 14:55 (twenty years ago)

Hejira's cover is offputting, but it's not a bad album really.

Special Agent Dale Koopa (orion), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 14:58 (twenty years ago)

Well, I mean listening to the album makes me nervous.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 14:59 (twenty years ago)

oh, that's weird.

Special Agent Dale Koopa (orion), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

I know, I can't really explain it. I just put it on now; I will see if it's still true.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:06 (twenty years ago)

she's a bit too jazz-rocky for my taste.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 15:26 (twenty years ago)

I don't really like Hejira, but I like Hissing. Hejira has that cheesy Jaco sound, whereas Hissing has a dirtier early fusion sound to it. Title track is mind-blowing, as is the uncharacteristically noisy Jungle Line. Boho Dance has some of my favorite lyrics. Jaymc, get thee a copy immediately.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 25 October 2005 18:54 (twenty years ago)

Hejira PWNS.
