OMG, I was too scared to post this on the "awesomely awesome" thread for fear of retribution from the Noize Bike Mafia (and general guilt) HOWEVER upon seeing this thread, I feel I can post freely.

I live on a big, steep hill. At the bottom of one of the hill on one side is an intersection with a four way stop. While on the bus to work the other day, two supreme bicyclists come racing down the hill from perpindicular directions without any regard for the stopsigns and just merge in a fantastic collision of metal, gears (fixed) and body parts. As the bus pulled away, I watched out of the back window as both riders writhed around in the middle of the intersection. I called 911.

I grew up on a steep hill (navigational landmark on nautical maps) At the bottom the road down the hill becomes one of the forks of a Y intersection. The other fork has a stop sign, but trees obscure the view up the hill beyond a few dozen yards. I nearly got wiped out like 300 times by douchebag vacationing NYCers who rolled through the stop sign or didn't look proper.

I bike -- outside of my commute to work in Midtown, it's my main transpo. My current ride only has three gears which is technically closer to one, but not likely to be worth any mafia cred.

haha, yeah, laurel, i was going to say: well, i know laurel and i bike, but hers is a 3-speed and mine is an early 90s specialized mtn bike that's been frankensteined more than once. but now i only use the highest gears because all the easy ones are boring. this may count for girl who goes to get take-out for bike noize mafia.
