Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 22 January 2006 03:20 (twenty years ago)

It's in between the Myrtle and KOSCIUSZKO J/M/Z stops.
not so close to the G..

We saw Byron House and some other Providence noiseers there not too long ago.
It's a weird, cool space.

please, i don't want to take time away from my family to go to the ghetto for no reason.

I don't work at Goodbye Blue Monday.
I play in Blues Control, and I've spent very little time looking through the records there.
A friend bought a few LPs the first time we checked it out, but it's probably better for clothes, random "stuff", and shows.
I don't have the patience to dig deep for records at thrift stores.
I rarely shop for records anyway, since I usually trade with other small labels for new music, or buy bootleg Polish bluesrock CDs for the car.

Goodbye Blue Monday is more along the lines of The Vortex, The Thing, or Junk, than a proper record store.
However, like Eat Records, Goodbye Blue Monday has coffee and snax (+ booze).
The guy who owns it seems pretty laid-back.
There have been a bunch of low-key improv, folk, and "noise" shows over the past few months, but not a lot of people hear about 'em.
I don't think there has been any promotion outside of an email list you can sign up for at the store.

Russell (Russell), Friday, 27 January 2006 06:54 (twenty years ago)

what time do you play, and how do i get dere? is a car really the easiest way?

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Friday, 27 January 2006 07:05 (twenty years ago)

Blues Control - 9pm
Mark Morgan - 9:45ish? 10pm?
GHQ - 10:45? 11?

Taking the J/M/Z to Myrtle and continuing on foot 2-3 blocks east on Broadway is the most direct way to get there.
You can also take the L to Myrtle-Wyckoff, tranfer to the M, and take that back 3 stops to Myrtle.
That might take a while tho.
By car it's a straight drive down Broadway.

Oh...if you're referring to that photo of GHQ above...that photo was taken (by Billy T Miller) at Twisted Village last weekend.
Different store.
Different city.
Different show.

Here is a picture of the records at Goodbye Blue Monday:

man. i wish i lived in new york.

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Friday, 27 January 2006 08:29 (twenty years ago)

we get good shows in detroit, but a lot of it is the same shit over and over.

there is only so much wolf eyes related projects one can handle until you've pretty much seen them all, especially i've been seeing them since '01.

it's tough because the only good venue for noise here is greh's (hive mind) loft in eastern market and he's on a hiatus from throwing shows now anyway.

HELLFAUCET (FAGZ0RD OF THE LAKES), Friday, 27 January 2006 08:40 (twenty years ago)

thanks russell. yeah, vortex is proabably a better comparison, i'll try to stop by that place sometime. dont think i can make your show, but thx for the help.
