in some russian movie i just saw, a piratish duded rides a horse into versailles to stop the wedding of his ex-fling-courtesan.
somewhere in neal stephenson's baroque trilogy mad jack shaftoe is covered in horse shit, trying to escape from an evil duke's clutches and is dragged through a versaillian costume ball on teh back-half of a horse, swinging twin swords.
did anything like this ever actually happen, and who was responsible?
