Golden Gun any day of the week, Ichi was a long setup for the entire psychological fuck-around reveal when they reveal his past, or whatever.

Christopher Lee, in a James Bond film, with Hervé Villechaize as sidekick? Sure, it would have been better if they were playing opposite Connery, but the whole funhouse mirror gunfight scene, the car/plane thing, and the cameo of Sheriff J.W. Pepper from the previous film!

OK, I've seen this stuff on way too many Bond marathons. Try to tell me there's a better villain/henchman dynamic anywhere in Bond, though.

I still don't understand Karen in Ichi

Anyway, I was interested in movies where the villain draws the protagonist into a confrontation for its own sake.

haha, I thought this thread would be about bearably-lame movies with good soundtracks (cf: Escape From New York, Death Wish 2, Good Burger, etc.)

Not a big fan of Miike, sorry.

Alex in SF is a huge fan of culty yakuza/gross-out/horror movies (as well as cinema in general) though, you guys should ask him some questions like the one in the thread title.

Heat*

*dependent upon whom you consider the villain and protagonist.
